Nestled on the east shore of Bay Mississquoi, the northern tip of Lake Champlain. Large, west-facing windows catch afternoon sun, spectacular sunsets, the Adirondack Mountain peaks, and views of Vermont’s Mississquoi National Wildlife Refuge.

The space

The house has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a spacious great room, and a kitchen/dining room, all on one level. Each bedroom has two extra-long single beds, which can be combined to become king-sized beds.

Interaction with guests

We are accessible by phone, text, and email throughout your stay to answer any questions or address any issues.

Other things to note

The property is located within a bird sanctuary, so you don’t even need to step outside to go bird watching!

Access to the shore is via two flights of stairs. There is a small deck half way down--a perfect place from which to watch the sunsets.

Motorcraft can be launched from Phillipsburg, a five-minute ride away.

We were very comfortable here. The cottage is a perfect size for a small family and peaceful, clean, and functional. We would recommend that you bring lots of water for drinking and brushing teeth etc as the water was a bit eggy. Also worth noting is that you are about 20 mins from breakfast or groceries in the nearest town and anywhere else is further. That being said, Montreal is amazing and just over an hour away, and we loved cafe ruby for breakfast in Bedford and found some amazing cheese and microbrews out in the countryside.

Response from Judith:
Our closest restaurant, Capitaine Lou, beside the quay in Phillipsburg, is about two miles from the house and one of our favorite breakfast places. It offers a beautiful view of the lake from the deck. When you come back, you'll have to give it a try!

Judith was great about communicating in advance of our arrival so that it went as smooth as possible. The house itself is lovely and very clean and right on the lake. Perfect for reading or enjoying the views. It's a bit of a drive if you want to go out to eat or require groceries or explore the surroundings. Once you've made the effort though there are some really lovely places to explore!

From initial contact and throughout our stay Judith was responsive and full of information. Home was exactly as described, no surprises. We are a family of 4 (2 teens) and everyone was pleased with the accommodations! Kitchen fully equipped with full size appliances, there is an outdoor grill but we did not use. Paint, flooring, furniture- all new. Shower kept warm for all 4 of us to shower in a row. Beds were comfortable though I missed my own pillow. The yard is a good size to play around and fire pit is appointed to take full advantage of the amazing waterfront view. Birdsong is constant and lovely. Cute furry critters abound as well as a close encounter with a skunk who walked over to check out our campfire one night. Luckily he scampered away quickly when he saw us, lol. Wi-fi is quick and stereo has good sound so we were able to entertain ourselves when the weather turned rainy. Location is nearly on top the border, but was a perfect distance for all of our day trips. Because this is a rural area I would advise to come with currency as we found exchange not easy in the local haunts. Must visit Cafe Rouge for breakfast and pastry, the wine route is an easy drive and very fun (pay for samples, so be aware of that as well). Granby Zoo is a must visit for all ages. Montreal of course, Burlington, Venise for beach access...we had a full and fun week and were so happy to have such a peaceful, clean, quite and homey place to return to each night. Would definitely stay again and can recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing place to unplug and enjoy some quality down time.

Our family of four had a wonderful week in Judith's home overlooking Lake Champlain. The place was very cozy; interior looked to be recently renovated and was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the privacy of the wooded neighborhood and spent lots of time looking at the clouds and sun on the lake, both from the large window in the living room and from the patio. Judith is a great host. She responded quickly to questions ahead of time and during our stay, and she provided an amazing amount of helpful information of what to do and where to eat. We took some of her suggestions for local dining and also made trips into Montreal and Burlington, VT. She also made it convenient to get the key so that our arrival time could be flexible. Since we were traveling quite a distance, this made our journey much less stressful. Thanks for a great experience, Judith!

We had a lovely time staying at this wonderful property on Lake Champlain. The house was extremely clean, there was some fresh milk in the fridge, and plenty of linens. The area was extremely tranquil and we saw groundhogs, chipmunks, a wild turkey, and a wild rabbit. Judith was easy to contact when we mistakenly locked the key indoors and she organised her friend to come to our aid within 5 minutes.

My friend and I stayed five days at Judith'place, and enjoyed the place very much. The spectacular sunsets were indeed spectacular, and the house was very comfortable. When we had a problem with the water supply, (on a Sunday) Judith arranged for a plumber to show up within hours, which turned out to be unnecessary because her good neighbour (who also acts as a standby custodian) had already fixed the problem. All in all, a first rate experience in a first rate place.
