Welcome to glorious Somerset! Situated among gardens and orchards and with access to a tennis court, this annexe to a Grade 2 listed 17th-century farmhouse provides the perfect spot to unwind in the English countryside.

From the farmhouse it is quick and easy to get to lots of excellent walking routes in unspoiled countryside. Towns such as Glastonbury, Wells, and Bath are also a short drive away, and Castle Cary Railway Station (direct trains to London) is just ten minutes' drive away.

The space

Nestled in a quaint and charming corner of England, the annexe to this Grade 2 listed Somerset farmhouse is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some time in the countryside. There are lots of charming walks nearby, as well as the farmhouse's own orchard – the Mendip Hills are also not far away. Sports-lovers can enjoy the tennis court, available for your use except on Friday and Saturday mornings.

There are excellent transport links to other parts of the West Country: by car you can quickly get to Castle Cary, which has direct trains to London Paddington, as well as the beautiful medieval city of Wells, Bath (famous for its Roman baths), and Glastonbury, home of the music festival.

WiFi and free parking on site!

Living & Eating

There is an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area that comes fully equipped with all the modern necessities, including electric cooker, fridge freezer, washing machine, toaster, and kettle. There is also a dining table.

The living area comes with large flat-screen TV and very comfortable sofas, plus a charming wooden coffee table. French windows look out on to the traditional formal garden, and there is, additionally, a private garden for you to enjoy, which comes with its own seating area.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

The bedroom and bathroom are on the first floor of the annexe. The bedroom comes with a large and comfortable double bed, which can also be configured as two single beds. Bedside tables, a dressing table, and wardrobe, and armchair complete the set-up.

The bathroom comes with toilet, sink, shower, and bath.

There is an extra room adjoining the annexe that in the future will be refurbished and made into a second bedroom. At this stage we are happy to let you use it free of charge on the basis that you accept its shortcomings. Please see the photos, but also bear in mind that some changes may have been made by the time of your stay.

Private parking is immediately next to the farmhouse annexe, to which you have your own private entrance separate from the main farmhouse.

Guest access

The farmhouse annexe is entirely your own during your stay. The tennis court is available for your use except on Friday mornings and Saturday mornings. Please remember to bring your own rackets and balls.

There is also an open-sided barn with an open fire and comfortable, which is used by the owners but may be available during your stay. Please let us know when making a booking enquiry if you would like to use the barn.

Interaction with guests

We respect people's privacy, but if we can help you to get more from your stay, we will be very happy to help in any way we can.

Other things to note

Please note that the owners have a friendly, and at times exuberant, pet dog.

Comfortable, tastefully decorated and with fine linens throughout, we would highly recommend Tom's place to anyone looking for a little luxury and comfort. And as for the grounds... they have to be seen to be appreciated; wild bits, meadow, orchard, chickens, sheep, walled garden and cottage garden planting - a dream made in heaven. 5 STARS all round!

Middle Farm is an amazing, quiet and beautiful spot in central Somerset. The annexe has everything you need and feels really comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and ready to offer any help and advice to ensure we had a really good stay and they provided a delicious welcome pack (bread, jam, coffee, tea, milk etc). The farm is in a lovely quiet location where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and have direct access to walks along quiet country lanes and in the surrounding fields. There are lots of local walks and pubs just a short drive away. We also enjoyed visiting lots of the places that Somerset has to offer (eg. Cheddar Gorge, the Jurassic Coast, Glastonbury Tor, the Mendip Hills, Exmoor, Brean Down Peninsula, Wells and lots more!), all within easy reach of Hornblotton Green. We stayed for three weeks and could have stayed for much longer and we hope to come back again soon! Thank you!
