Built as a hunting lodge c.1860. The house fronts the Mulcair River, is surrounded by farms and forest, and sits in the valley at the base of Keeper Hill, the highest peak in Tipperary. Approx 30 mins from Limerick city, 45 mins Shannon airport, 1.30 hrs Cliffs of Moher, 2 hrs Dublin. An ideal base for walking (the Slieve Felim Way passes the front gate) with a number of loop walks accessible on foot. Starry skies and wide open vistas on offer. Own transport essential. Free parking.

The space
The house has been modernised without compromising it's historical nature (thus no en-suites!). There are two bedrooms available one with a double bed, and one with two separate single beds, just let us know which room you would like when you book. (If you have stayed with us before you will notice that we have reduced the number of rooms and number of guests to make social distancing easier. If there are dates you want to stay and they are not open on the calendar then send us a message and we will see what we can do, but no promises!) Our ethos is "country comfortable" and eco-friendly. So if it's a bit chilly we are more likely to offer you an extra blanket for the bed than to turn on the (hi-tech but wood fired) central heating. We are keen gardeners and grow a lot of out own food and at the same time encourage insects and wildlife through wildflower and natural habitat.
We have three dogs, two of them rescue. You definitely need to like dogs to stay here. We also keep bees so please be aware of this if you have a beesting allergy.
The scenery and quiet location lend themselves to walking, painting, writing, and general contemplation of nature. If you are touring about then this is a good stop off between Dublin and Kerry/Cork and for wider exploring into parts of Clare and the Wild Atlantic Way.
The nearest pub is 5kms away in Killoscully and is a small, traditional and friendly place which serves an excellent pint of Guinness. It was the interior half of the pub location for Pat Short's "Killinascully", a comedy series set in the rural hills of Ireland

Guest access
We welcome you sharing our home and garden subject to whatever Covid restrictions are in force at the time of your stay. One of the bathrooms will be dedicated to guests usage. Each bedroom has its own wash-hand basin.
