Our stay was short, but sweet. Sarah is an excellent host and we were able to have some of the best food of our entire trip at the night market nearby!

Great location to stay at for the black sand beach and Wednesday night market. Private room is very clean and check in/out process was very accommodating. Thank you Sarah!

This room was exactly what we were looking for: clean and safe, close to black sand and lava viewing, and DIRECTLY across the street from a most breathtaking lava field. We only saw Sarah once, and she gave us great tips on where to eat and what to check out around Pahoa. We would definitely stay here again!

Sarah's rental & hospitality are great ! She answered questions, but was not intrusive. Perect location for Uncle Robert's. The area is rural, private & not "touristy"-if you want a resort, lots is shopping & a multitude of entertainment this is NOT for you... but if you want to walk on lava, see coconut palms sprouting, watch lava flowing... crearing new land & meet locals, then this IS your place. If you would enjoy scenic rural roads, seeing turquoise waves crashing onto black lava cliffs on your way to hot ponds, tide pools (good snorkeling ) & quaint towns , then BOOK with Sarah NOW & see the Hawaii that most tourist miss !!

Sarah's place was adequate for our short stay. If you are looking for somewhere conviently located nearby the lava ocean entry trail, this is the place to be. Also, we would highly recommend staying on a Wednesday night to check out the very vibrant Uncle Robert's market. Outside of these 2 activities, there is not a whole lot in the area. Dinner on our second night was limited to packet noodles. The listing was reasonably accurate, only that there is no kitchen. There is a microwave, small toaster oven and mini fridge (freezer was all blocked/icy so could not be used), The room is also quite small (the only place to hang out is on the bed itself), the outdoor furniture/space wasn't overly inviting, but sufficient. Considering there were few other options in the area we would stay there again, but would limit to 1-2 nights.

I have been a Big Island resident for ten years after moving from the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. I enjoy yoga, swimming, dancing, healthy eating, and being a Mom. Beach adventures to the best spots in Lower Puna occupy my free time. I believe in working hard to play harder. You will find me selling soap and other goodies at Uncle Robert's Market on Wednesday night. I delight in meeting my Airbnb guests. I would love to facilitate your adventure to Kalapana and share my knowledge of the area with you!
