Interaction with guests
Either Tom or I will meet you at check-in with the key if we haven't discussed other options. Our home is also on the farm within sight but far enough away that you always have privacy, so if you have any questions we are only a phone call away. We respect your privacy so you won't see us again unless you need us. However, sometimes the chickens will visit in late afternoon.
Other things to note
The "Little House" at Shade Tree Cottage is also on the property, it's a new one bedroom cottage, bath, living room, kitchenette, and covered porch overlooking the 5 acre pasture. Available to rent separately or with Shade Tree Cottage.
Welcome! We live down the hill a little ways, so if you have any questions with the appliances, lights, water, heat or air conditioning, just text or call. We will be there in no time to help you.
Sometimes, if multiple hair dryers are in use, you could trip a breaker, it's an easy fix just give us a call.
We have 54 hens and a rooster, Bo diddly. They are free range after 2pm, so keep doggies on a leash after 2. If they aren't used to chickens, they might chase them. You will have plenty of fresh eggs in the Fridge. Enjoy your stay at Shade Tree Cottage.
Tom, my husband, and I bought the farm in 2000 as a get away from our hectic life in Richmond. We loved the area so much we sold our home in Richmond and moved our Tennessee Walking Horses here to the cottage in Gordonsville. The horses are now gone, we built another home on the farm, and we retired in 2013. We now are Innkeepers for our Shade Tree Cottage and The "Little House". Tom works at one of the area's wineries and tends his large flock of chickens. I enjoy growing summer flowers, so I can fill the cottages with beautiful blooms. Thanks for visiting us. Tom and Midge
