Karibu! Our place is perfectly located for visitors in the peaceful outskirts of Nairobi, near Karen. We are within walking distance of the Giraffe Centre, 7 mins drive from the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the entrance to the National Park. Karen Blixen Museum is 15 mins away. There is a lovely Dutch bakery, restaurant, supermarket and gift shop 5 mins drive away. You'll love our place because we live on a secure, tree filled, peaceful compound with friendly dogs & helpful staff.

The space
This is a newly converted annex apartment, with it's own entrance and outside seating/eating area, with pond and bird life around, which is lovely for eating breakfast outside or for tea. Watch the monkeys leap around the trees and enjoy being surrounded by African forest sounds. There are books, maps, magazines, puzzles and games left for your use.

Guest access
Our place is perfect for a single person or a couple. There is a double bedroom, with a large 4 poster bed, a bathroom with walk in shower and living room - complete with a 'hidden' kitchen, sofa, desk etc. We live in the main house so are usually on hand to give advice or answer any questions.

Other things to note
For a small extra charge, we'll even do your laundry! We have a tv screen but it is not connected to a TV network. You will need a laptop to watch tv using the internet (there is a cable and good wifi) or use dvds (selection provided) on the DVD player.

Downloading Jumia food app is an easy way of having food delivered and whatsapp is a great way to communicate in Kenya.

Nairobi, Nairobi County, Kenya

We are very luck to live in this peaceful and safe residential neighbourhood, popular with expats. A walk around the 'block' takes approx 15-20 mins - many people walk their dogs, jog etc. We are frequented by Sykes Monkeys, who drive the dogs crazy! As well as warthogs sometimes. At night you'll hear bush babies and tree hyrax and if you're lucky you can spot them with a torch! There may be insects at certain times of the year but there is a mosquito net and mosquito repellent, so nothing dangerous.
Relax in your personal 'garden', watch Maurice the terrapin flit around the pond, listen to the bird life and marvel at the monkeys leaping around the trees.

I am a busy mother of 3 and a primary school teacher. Originally from England, I've lived in Kenya for the past 20 years - my husband was born here. Our plot was bought by my father-in-law nearly 40 years ago. I love walking with family and dogs, travelling, meeting people from different countries and watching the monkeys in our trees.
