Brooklodge Cottage is situated opposite Parnell Memorial National Park in the centre of Rathdrum. It is a ten minute walk from the train station and the beautiful Avondale House forest park is 1.5 miles away. The famous Glendalough is only a fifteen minute drive. Close by, you also have Brittas Bay beach and Kilmacurragh Botanic Gardens.
For exploring the Garden of Ireland it is a perfect location.

The space

My space is very unique as you really can feel connected to nature.
It is a great hiking area, and the close proximity to the beautiful mountains.
It is very tranquil for the people that want to get away from the city noise and pollution.
There are many great walking paths nearby. We have a few restaurants in the village which are a five minute walk away.

Guest access

Guests have access to use of the kitchen, dining room living room, free parking to rear of cottage, and shared bathroom with myself.
In the warmer drier months there is a terrace to the rear where you can chill and enjoy your breakfast outdoors.

Interaction with guests

I am available to help my guests in every way possible and of course without interfering with their privacy.
If they need help and advise about restaurants local entertainment, and music or to help them plan a trip in the beautiful Garden of Ireland.

Response from Maria:
Sorry to hear you did not enjoy the beautiful garden of Ireland, especially it was just down the road for you, and all my guests just love the charming village and restaurants. Breakfast is not included in the price, but I gave you the light breakfast free out of the kindness of my heart. The odour you mentioned was from the baking that I do for guests, again complimentary. It is an old charming cottage and yes there is a little creaking from the natural floorboards. There is a free car park opposite the house for over 100 cars and at the back of my property there is space for 4 large cars. Fresh linen and towels are provided which are collected each day from the laundry and they are beautifully dried. I personally polish and hoover every day sometimes twice a day to avoid any dust in my cottage.

Maria is one of the most lovely people, let alone hosts, I've ever met. She's a true picture of Irish hospitality and made me feel most welcome. Her place was a great base to explore County Wicklow from! But do follow her directions in arriving at her cottage, as (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps brought me just up the hill but on another road from her place. She was very good at sorting me out and giving the correct directions when I called her, though! Lovely home.

This is a lovely house in a friendly village. Marie was a great host who was friendly, and who gave us plenty of privacy. I would recommend this stay. The location is very close to the Wicklow Mountains National Park.

Hello Charles and Melanie, Thank you for taking the time to write your beautiful positive review. I was happy to hear you enjoyed Rathdrum as it seems to get passed by and not being recognised as a beautiful town in the "GARDEN OF IRELAND" Hope to see you when you are back.

I am a very friendly outgoing person.
I enjoy working with people and as I have lived abroad for a number of years I know what tourists are looking for when they check into my friendly home for their holidays or a night while in Rathdrum in the garden of Ireland. It is best to hire a car while visiting this area.
