Interaction with guests
We are close by at all times as we work in the studio and café so come in for a chat and to ask about the area.
We may also have other guests staying so company is never far away, especially near the communal campfire or river seating area.
The Coomarkane Valley is the jewel in Glengarriff's crown. Surrounded by mountains with a river and lake in the centre it is a story book valley.
The Beara-Breifne walk comes into the valley from Adrigole, a good 18km hike over mountain terrain, there are also more intermediate walks in to the hills and a gentle 1.5km walk around the valley.
There is something here for the historian, from old famine dwellings to hide out caves where the Donal O'Sullivan clan stayed before marching to Leitrim.
Lakes, flora and fauna specific to the area are in abundance. Bird watchers can see the peregrine falcons in action, Sea Eagles, heron, cormorants, to name a few. Also spotted are wild goats, otters, dear, stotes, a nature lovers dream.
There is a national bus route from Glengarriff to Cork, Bantry is on this route. Also to Castletownbere, Adrigole is on this route. There are several taxis/mini buses available for hire in Glengarriff.

Please phone for directions before leaving the village as phone reception may be a little hit and miss through the woods. There is signage from the main road and through the woods.

We are a creative, friendly couple who love to meet new people, through travelling or by greeting guests to our little piece of heaven in the Coomarkane Valley.
The valley is situated 5 KM from Glengarriff village. The narrow road winds through the Glengarriff Nature Reserve, where Ireland's original and oldest forestation grows, with lots of native animals to be spotted from frogs to dear. The valley we live in is ideally situated for hill walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.
