The space
Our guests tell us that their most memorable experience is coming into the kitchen space where the cooks get started on preparing the meals and everybody else finds a cosy chair to put up their feet, toast each other and enjoy conversation and the action.
It's not just a kitchen but rather a dynamic social space with plenty of relaxation options, mood lighting and wifi communications to their own personal choice of music.

Chefs & Cooks are blown away by having access to organic garden produce, professional implements for every cuisine style, and a spacious kitchen layout that enables them to join the group conversation. (Host's Note: Beware we keep the knives sharp)

Our guests tell us that the kids love spending time feeding the chickens, watching the bird feeders, playing with Snowy the friendly cat (strictly an outdoor cat), collecting the eggs, playing in the garden and going for nature walks in the wheeled cart. Because of this positive feedback we decided that no TV is a kid's best policy. Of course the wifi provides access if they really need to connect their own devices.

Most of our guests live fast-paced lives and come on holiday to unwind. They are delighted by Carmen's in-house professional Masseuse therapies that include Seaweed or Peat Bath, Facials, Hot Stone Massage, Aromatherapy Message and Indian Head Massage. Request a brochure for prices.

There are many wedding venues in County Sligo - Juniper Barn, Markree Castle, Castle Dargan, Belleek Castle & Temple House. Bride & Groom parties who stay at Branchfield House say it's the best experience they could ever have dreamed of... luxurious, reasonably priced, secluded, private and absolutely fabulous.

Feedback from local people confirms that there is nothing like Branchfield House in all of County Sligo... Carmen & Robert are proud of their unique Irish home and always looking forward to making their guests cosy and happy.

Guest access
The front door leads you into the entrance gallery where cosy slippers await you, a peat or log fire warms you and a leather couch rests your weary legs. At ground level the Garden Room, Courtyard Room and Bathroom are on the left and to the right is the fire and archway to the open plan kitchen. Beyond the kitchen two steps take you down into the Orangery that is half planting and half timber deck for second dining/lounging area.

From the gallery the staircase takes you upstairs and to the left is a very large Family Room. To the right is Carmen's Massage Room for guest treatments, Shower Room and a cosy Balcony Snug. Two steps down takes you to a double bedroom - the Sun Room.

Our guests have the whole house to themselves and your hosts show you around to make sure you know where everything is.

All the bedrooms have goose-down duvets, dressing gowns, soft towels and space to spread your personal items. The bath/shower rooms have soaps, shampoos, extra towels on the warming rails and extractor fans.

The garden is beautifully maintained and there are plenty of chairs and sun lounges to move about to catch the best of the sun. On nice days the barbecue pit is a perfect rustic outdoor cooking event with plenty of wood for evening warmth and fire gazing.

Other things to note
We have a 4 wheel kid's cart with pillows and blanket for mum and dad to add pleasure to local sight-seeing walks.
All children are offered a free WORLD smallest KITE to remember their stay with us.

Business
Carmen & Robert brought their family to the west coast in 1998 for a life after Australia, Germany and England. The name Branchfield House comes from the Townland name Branchfield in County Sligo. Its architecture has both Irish and English heritage... now lovingly restored. Our children are spread all over the world and so we welcome our guests to share in what the family has created. Carmen is a qualified masseuse specialising in stress-relief therapies and husband Robert is a Landscape Architect with an internet business WORLD smallest KITE. They each share a passion for cooking, rarely eat out, make exquisite tea and coffee, use exclusive organic ingredients with home grown seasonal herbs, veg, eggs and wine. The kitchen garden produces seasonal crops and a work in progress is daily attendance of a beautifully restored Victorian Orangery that provides salad veges and early morning sunshine. Our own Airbnb travels seek 3 basics - a cosy bed, excellent shower pressure and pure drinkable water and we think you will enjoy all three. Carmen's liking for making her guests feel at home can only be called luxurious and she recommends guests to bring their favourite cosy slippers as we encourage shoes off-at-the-door. The Guest House is set across a landscaped courtyard that catches the best of the sun and guests are welcome to bask in the many private nooks. The surrounding land is farmed with grazing cows and sheep and the courtyard has chickens, ducks and birds that sing the dawn chorus. Robert is usually found gardening or restoring the dry stone walls so there's normally someone on hand to assist with enquiries. Carmen has fluent German and Robert fluent Australian :) If what you seek is privacy then we'll leave you to enjoy. We look forward to your visit.
