The space

The apartment is located within a 13th century Benedictine nunnery. It looks out into the old cloisters and again has access to this private space. It was originally the rooms of the Abbess who, from this privileged position, had control over what was going on inside the convent and at the same time could observe what was happening in Via Giulia in the heart of Spello.
There are wooden beams on the ceiling throughout the apartment which consists of an efficient kitchen-living room with fridge, stoves and oven, dishwasher, coffee mashine, micro wave, toaster and electric kettle, flat satellite TV, dvd,a dining area and a comfy sofa bed. There's a bedroom with a king size double bed and wardrobe rather than a working desk and a bathroom with shower cabin, hairdryer and essentials of a local producer.
Our guests can relax either on the outside space, in the shadow of the arcades attached to the renaissance private courtyard, or lay in the sun on a lounger.

Guest access

Our guests have also access to the laundry room in the cloister and the medieval cellar with table tennis.

Interaction with guests

Since we're living in an apartment with access from the cloister, we're always available for our guests. For every question that might come up regarding the house, but even more for suggestions where to go to in town (locations of archeological and historic interest, excursions around town, restaurants,...) or what to plan during the day (seeing other towns such as Assisi, Spoleto, Bevagna, Montefalco or Perugia, but also hiring bicycles, electric bikes, cars or vintage scooters) - we're here to help them!

Highly recommend the apartment. Location is great and apartment is as pictured. Anja was a great host. She picked us up from the train station and arranged dinner for the first night. She was very responsive to messages. Ideal host. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Thanks very much Anja and Paolo. They were very hospitable and available for help if we needed it. The apartment itself is lovely, historic and very comfortable with a good bed, quiet and all the facilities needed for a stay of a few days. Spello and the whole surrounding area is wonderful too with many places to visit and explore, and lots of small restaurants and bars where the local foods and wines of Umbria can be tried. Well worth visiting again!

Where to start......firstly our hosts were wonderful ! They helped us find amazing restaurants (Mama fo is a favourite) , plan our day trips, helped with luggage , where to park hire car and just let us enjoy our stay but available when you needed help or advice. Our hosts love their city and wanted us to experience as much as we could whilst there , so helped in any way possible to ensure our stay was wonderful - which it was ! The apartment- from the moment we saw the entry and then walked into the courtyard we were in awe. The apartment we chose had a double bed and the bedroom area was large enough for suitcases, we used the couch as fold out bed, small bathroom and a kitchen area with everything needed to cook and some supplies. This worked for us (3) as we were out all day, but they do have a bigger apartment. Everything was clean and furnishings were modern with touches of home. Extra pillows, blankets supplied, cupboard space for hanging clothes. The area was quiet and central to walk Spello town with a gorgeous wine bar just at the steps of the entrance!! We used the washing machine (in courtyard area) and our hosts offered to hang out so we could start our sightseeing...and my daughter enjoyed playing and having fun with the hosts boys. The history of the building is incredible, loved our stay and would highly recommend. We definitely would stay again. Only advice - Spello centre is very hilly which means steep steps to apartments - remember that with luggage :) and narrow streets when driving - but worth it, gorgeous stay and town !

I cannot speak more highly of my stay at this accommodation! Firstly the apartment is lovely & couldn't be in a better location. Most importantly, I met Anja & she made my stay so wonderful. There were so many personal little touches which made my stay so special & she was always available for advice & help & just a friendly chat! She organised a wine & olive oil tour for me with some others staying in the area (I was travelling alone so I was very grateful for this!) & then she arranged for a driver by the name of Corrado to pick us up. He was so lovely & such fun & showed us around so many lovely towns, took us to try different food & coffee spots where the locals go. It was the best day, highly recommend this!!!! Anja really went above & beyond & I will always be grateful I stayed here:)

This apartment was the perfect place to stay in Spello. It's a great location (although, in Spello, nothing is very far ). It is a cozy two room, and was great for our 5 night stay. It was nice to have a home like feel in the middle of our trip. Even though it's in an old nunnery, the apartment is all up to date. There is a washing machine in the court yard (which we were very excited for). Anja was a wonderful host. She is so welcoming and had so many wonderful suggestions of where to go, what to do, people to meet. You really get to have a feel of the quiet Italian life. It's also a good central location for day trips. We were able to walk to Assisi, walk to Collepino. Montefalco, Bevagna, etc are so close and easily reachable. Will definitely be staying again, if we get to make it back to Umbria!

Anja looked after us right from the start. She responded to my emails before we got there and once we got off the train she called a taxi for us. From the moment we met her she was welcoming, enthusiastic and warm. The apartment was all we expected and more - clean, well equipped, modern yet reminiscent of older times. Internet worked amazingly fast. Spello is a great base to explore the area. It also has great restaurants and unique shops. It was hard leaving.

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! Spello is a place that makes you want to stay longer and Anja and Paolo's home made us want to live here! The whole family was so nice! They really made us feel at home! 宾至如归 in Chinese! Spello is a beautiful and quiet village and also close to places like Assisi. If you don't have a car, Anja can help to recommend a friendly local driver to take you there very easily! Around the village, there are lots of places for hiking and bicycle riding. We highly recommend this place!

Me and my wife are lawyers and got to know each other while at law school. Anja is german and is teaching that language also to our two little boys, Giulio and Pietro. We love our town enjoying to go for a walk or ride the mountain bike during our free time.
With us is a little cat, Maexchen, and Lord the dog.
