Mount Hooley Lodge is a Canadian style log cabin constructed from massive inter-locking logs measuring over 12 inches in diameter, a unique feature both inside and outside. It's located on a working upland hill farm, on the moor above Alston. Standing on the wooden decking or relaxing in the hot tub, the panoramic views looking across the South Tyne Valley are absolutely awe-inspiring. After enjoying the views, cuddle up around the log burning stove and recharge those batteries.

Amazing 35% Discount on full week bookings! (7 days or more)

Mount Hooley Lodge is located on a working upland hill farm, 1200 feet above sea level, on the moor above Alston, which is the highest market town in England. For peace and tranquillity it would be difficult to find a more idyllic spot. The hot water and heating are produced from a ground source heat pump and the roof is covered by grass which provides excellent insulation, together making this a completely innovative eco- friendly building concept.
The five star luxury can be enjoyed whatever the weather and at any time of the year. In summer the wide bi-fold patio doors to the front of the lodge can be completely opened creating a picture frame to admire the view, or you can chill out in the hot tub under the clear starry skies. In contrast during the colder winter months the log burning stove creates a warm and cosy environment to relax.

Alston has an eclectic mix of shops selling local produce, unusual gift shops, cafes and pubs. There is a narrow gauge railway with steam trains running on selected dates throughout the year on a half hour journey from Alston. This region is known as England's last wilderness with fantastic walks along unspoilt nature trails with an abundance of wildlife to observe along the way.

This place is an absolute gem! It truly is 5* luxury! Spotlessly clean, beds are the comfiest I've stayed in. The hot tub and view is unbelievable. It snowed whilst we were there and it was just gorgeous! We had a girls trip away and cooked a full Christmas dinner and we didn't need to bring a thing of our own. There's loads of cooking facilities including things like a blender, steamer etc. Dvd player for cosy nights and lots of board games to play. Location is fantastic and very close to walk to the village with a large spar shop and petrol station. The outside space is lovely although we didn't utilise it much as it was permanently between -2° and -10° whilst we were there but the hot tub kept us warm. Cannot recommend this place enough! Thank you!

What can we say? Bowled over by the lodge! Mr and Mrs Harrison have done an amazing job, the pictures really don’t do it any real justice. It’s hard to produce somewhere that feels in the middle of nowhere but is only a 15 minute walk from a lovely little village with everything you could need. We will be sure to tell all our friends and hopefully come back soon.

Great lodge, great views and location. Nice place to chill out with the family and enjoy the hot tub and surrounding locations. Marion and Chris are great hosts. The lodge was very clean and has everything you need for a lovely break. Will definitely try and return here again.

The group of us absolutely loved the lodge, it was beautiful! Everything we could ever need for a great stay was on hand. The place was very clean and well looked after, and I especially enjoyed the open layout of the lodge. The road up to it was a bit daunting bit but you do get used to it. Thank you for letting us use your lodge! We were all sad to leave, 3 nights was just not enough!
