Our house sits on the banks of The Seine and is close to three beautiful abbeys. Rouen, Deauville, Trouville , Honfleur and Etretat are close by. Paris is 1.20 by car. The Monet Museum, Haras du Pin, Pegasus beach and the Normandy landing beaches can be enjoyed. Our large garden is great for children. We have table tennis and snooker. Go karting, Accrobranch, Paintball and Golf are nearby as well as sailing and riding opportunities. There are two great restaurants in Jumieges.

The space

The house offers a charming view of the river, lying as it does on the deepest stretch of the river Seine, between La Havre and Rouen. As a consequence some very large boats and sometimes passenger cruisers pass in front of the house throughout the day and night. It is possible to download an app to follow the progress of the boats, which can make some exciting manoeuvres as they traverse les boucles.
The house is between two BAC crossings.

Guest access

Guests are able to use a self contained part of the house and the entire garden. We also have bikes which can be borrowed to cycle and explore locally.
Guests are able to use the small gym and sauna within the house.
Guests have exclusive access to the kitchen.

Interaction with guests

Catherine and Benoit will be looking after our guests as and when required. They live a 5 minute walk from the property. Benoit is able to provide a "taxi service" to the local train station in Yvetot, or to the airport in Deauville. He is also happy to give guests a sailing experience on his boat which is moored in Honfleur. Tea, coffee, milk are provided and you can place an order for delivery of bread and pastries through us for delivery. We can offer a couple of evening meals a week, made from local produce as well as home grown vegetables. If guests would like this addition they can ask for more information prior to booking as these proposals are subject to additional charge. Catherine is also happy to give the odd french lesson.

Other things to note

There are two ponds in the garden, one in particular may be too much of an attraction for very young children offering sightings of frogs, fish and dragonfly, but is manageable with supervision.

This house is absolutely gorgeous! We stayed here for 6 nights and were joined by my brother and his family later on. The house is old and therefore noisy, but perfectly renovated. Brand new kitchen and bathrooms, very very comfortable! We met Benoit, husband of Jacqueline. He is really welcoming and friendly. I would absolutely stay here again.

We had great time at Jacquelines place. It was a beautiful and very comfortable house with lots and lots of space. We enjoyed the nice bedrooms with comfy beds. Bathrooms, the Gym which I used every morning, sauna and the lovely kitchen with a great Aga stove/oven. Our kids really liked the pool table, table tennis table and and the bikes. The garden is huge and very well maintained. And have a beautiful view on the Seine. We have used the ferry to other side to eat at a restaurant. (Be sure that you take the last ferry back before 9PM :-) The house is walking distance from Jumièges where we enjoyed the mid-eval festival and the beautiful ruïnes of an old Abbey. Jacqueline and Benoit are taking care of the house and both were very nice and responsive. Benoit gave us a tour upon arrival and we have met Jacqueline a few times. She is really nice and gave us a basked with fresh vegetables from her own garden. A long story short. We definitely recommend to stay at Catherines beautiful home and meet Jacqueline and Benoit.

Tips:Scenic location, river flowing right next to the property, large estate ideal for family with kids. Cathy and Benoit very friendly hosts, everything about that house was perfect. One can find any stuff with ease. Kids will love this place, esp tree house, trampoline are some highlights. I personally enjoyed pool game. In all great experiences and strongly recommended. Tips:down side was there was no wifi as mentioned...hopefully this issue heats fixed. Hot water was likewarm something needed for cold days. For the rest, please go for it!!!

We really were blown away by each and every detail of our stay. We felt so welcome, and very well looked after. From the delicious home cooked food awaiting us after a long cycle, to the life saving help with transport. Catherine was an incredible host. We felt so welcome. The house was more beautiful than we could ever have imagined, with incredible grounds. We were blown away by how much space we had! The area is stunning, and handy for a sweet commute to Jumiegés on the ferry for the morning pastries. Everything about our stay was beyond our expectations. We will most definitely be back!

Response from Jacqueline:
Hi Fiona, Thank you so much for your lovely appreciation of our home. I am sure Catherine and Benoit will be made happy by your comments. I just thought I would share with you details of our cycling friend...he is currently cycling the big event in Italy (name escapes me at the moment), living on very little sleep etc. Unfortunately he discovered that he had cycled 65km in the wrong direction the other day....ouch! We look forward to seeing you back. Best wishes, Jacqueline
