Relax in your own nest swing hanging alongside in the trees. Soak up the sun on a private rooftop terrace with views across Glengarriff Woods Nature Reserve to Bantry Bay. Finish the day with a BBQ or fire on the natural flagstone terrace & watch the stars appear. 100% of profits from your stay go directly to restoring habitats on site.

The space
The Nook & The Nest is situated in a private wing of Tooreen House. With it's own access through a timber doorway to an outdoor canopy covered decked kitchenette with entrance doorways off to an indoor private bathroom on one side & cosy bedroom on the other with inside seating. Follow the Rhododendron staircase to a roof-top terrace.

Enjoy a hamper of homemade & local treats to start your day, then while away the afternoon reading a book in the nest swing in the trees. If you're feeling a little more adventurous head out for hike exploring the nature trails on site or follow the nearby Beara Way to the top of Esk Mountain for 360 deg views of the Kerry Mountains to the North & Bantry Bay, Whiddy Island & the Sheep's Head peninsula to the South. Once evening arrives, relax by the fire (firepit set-up with wood supplied) and gaze at the glittering sky.

Guest access
As well as the private garden surrounding the Nook & the Nest - guests can enjoy access to Esk Mountains nature trails which include a woodland walk, streamside trail & peatland boardwalk. Guests also benefit from 10% off on-site events including guided foraging walks, fireside cookery workshops & pop-up seasonal events available on selected dates through the Summer. Tours can be pre-booked via Airbnb experiences.

Other things to note
Self check-in via lockbox available on request, otherwise in person check in between 3-8pm.

Breakfast hamper included for self-service breakfasts to enjoy whatever time you'd like to ease into the day. Hamper contents will vary depending on what's in season when you visit but may include: Granola & local berries, freshly baked bread with a selection of homemade jams & local cheese. All hampers will include some locally roasted coffee & black tea as well as milk (dairy free available), a box of freshly laid organic eggs from our hens & a bottle of homemade wild blossom cordial when available. Breakfast hampers can be tailored to any dietary needs to minimum of 48hrs notice.

We offer a nourishing tech-free experience so no TV, however Wifi is available with signal best in the main bedroom & front terrace if you need it.

Generally either your host Kloe or a house-keeper will be on site - if you need anything just ask.

We run a number of events and tours on the wider site, so on some days there will visitors using the main carpark & public bathroom at the other end of the shower block - we will make you aware of any when you enquire or book.

We are delighted to welcome dogs & will supply towels, drinking water bowls, treats & poo bags for your furry friend(s). Due to the foraging on on-site trails, dogs are restricted to the accommodation, surrounding gardens & main carpark for the time being. We hope to open some dog friendly public trails on site in the near future. Dogs must be kept off all furniture & seating including the nest swing.

Please be aware we have the following pets & livestock on site - three dogs, one cat, hens, two pigs & six cattle. Though all are kept separate from this accommodation unit you may see them in when coming / going, particularly if / when exploring the wider site. If you are at all nervous / allergic around any of these animals let Kloe know at your time of booking & we will do our best to make you as comfortable as possible.
