An authentic stone house with a breath taking view, a unique experience of historical revival in a calm. Original and romantic environnement surrounded by lemon, citrus, pomegrenate and palm trees facing the Aegean Sea.

The space

Our small village house is located on the shores of the beautiful Aegean sea facing the island of Chios in the village of Ildir (Ancient Erythrai). It is made out of the old stones which built the wall of city of Erythrai 3000 BC, and which is now an open air natural museum full of history. The house is situated over a lemon, olive and pomegrenate garden and all its rooms have a full view of the sea. The patio overlooking the garden and the bay is fantastic at nights under the moon light. The house has 3 rooms fully furnished and 2 bathrooms equipped with a shower and also hosts one very small kitchenette area - appliances can be supplied if needed. The house is 50 m2 and the terrace is also 50 m2 .
We can host to 4 guests and 1 or 2 babies.

Guest access

The price concerns 2 people in the big bedroom, the bathroom and the small kitchenette area. They can also use the terrace, the citrus garden and could have access to the swimming pool with in the rules and timing set. If there is more than 2 people who wants to stay in the place, we open the second room with 2 beds and they pay 40 Euros for each person who stays. If there is only 2 people who stays in the house they can not use the 2 nd room unless they pay for it. Couples can only use the number of rooms they have reserved.

Interaction with guests

The small village house is at the same estate as the house we are living in. There is nearly 150 metres between 2 of them.
If there is any need, we are happy to help the guests.
When you are in your house, no one else is permitted to stay in other than you.
There is a 12 meters long swimming pool in the garden, on the terrace beyond our house. No one else uses it while you are there and the pool area can not be seen by us or from outside.

Other things to note

We are at the old side of Ildır, where it is forbidden to construct.
We are less than 100 metres from the sea, our house is on the shore but on a hill called ''The Paradise Hill''. On the other side of the sea you have Chios Island as well as a fantastic view of all the 9 other close inhabited islands from your terrace..

Dilek and her husband are wonderful hosts. Their responses were immediate and when the coffee machine was not working, we even received Dilek's own machine immediately.... The cottage is basic in its comfort, but with all of Dilek's and her husbands attention, his breakfast service and her great cooking the stay was unforgettable. My wife and my daughter will not forget the cheesecake...We received a very thorough in-briefing on places to see and restaurants to go. The villages of Cesme and Alacati are very close by car and especially Alacati has a lot of character. It was October, but fairly cold, so we would not manage to try the pool, which is close to the main house and has a beautiful view. We loved the cats in the garden, which greeted us in the morning and the evening. This is a nice place for individual holidays.

We have spent 3 weeks at Ildiri. Being there is living in MANY times at the same time: the eternity of this unbelievable landscape, the selfunconscious being of animals, the thousends of years old cultural heritages, the daily life rooted in tradition of the Idiri inhabitants, the display of modern toursim, our private time on the wonderful veranda and the hospitality of our hosts. We are grateful for this time.

My husband & I stayed in Ildir at Dilek & Geza's cottage for 2 weeks in August. Our flight was delayed by over 2 hours and we didn't arrive at the cottage until gone 1am the following morning. However, they stayed up to await our arrival and showed us round. Every morning, Geza would bring us fresh bread, pastries, etc. The fridge was stocked with homemade jams, ham, cheese, etc. Dilek even baked us a cheesecake for our anniversary! The cottage itself is basic, but with so much charm and character. As we live in a busy built up town, we appreciated the rustic lifestyle it offered us. We were entertained by the adorable kittens living outside the cottage on a daily basis, and we hope that future guests will be kind to them! We enjoyed lazing by the pool with it's amazing view of the sea and was also invited for drinks one evening at the main house where Dilek cooked the most delicious food. Overall, we had an amazing stay. We loved Ildir and all it had to offer and would highly recommend this Airbnb.

Our stay here at Dilek's villa was impeccable. We had a warm greeting from Geza, who took us up to the cottage where would be staying. Here we met Dilek and had a tour of the place. Our first thoughts of the hosts and the cottage were brilliant. The holiday was made better by the great communication and services with the hosts. They brought us tasty food for breakfast and a surprise dessert which was spectacular. We had a cat and her 4 kittens living in front of the cottage which entertained us greatly, and a beautiful dog called Lola to entertain us up by the pool. The pool was brilliant, with breathtaking views. We thank Dilek and Geza for accommodating us and would love to come back next year.

I wouldn't recommend this place. While Geeza is a great host, Dilek can rather be unfriendly, annoying, and impolite. Yes, the place is authentic, the garden is beautiful, the place is equipped for breakfast and they do bring you fresh bakeries every day. However, there's a lot of negatives that ended up ruining our stay: 1) Ventilation is terrible at the place. There's no air conditioning, ceilings are very low and the place has windows only from one side. So if you're coming in the summer, this is NOT that place you should be staying at. 2) Noise: the place is incredibly noisy from the nearby street. You'd hear conversations, vehicles, and random noise that would make sleeping at night with the window open an impossibility. 3) The Pool is actually behind Dilek's house, and we only used it once. I was flying my mini-drone above the pool to shoot my wife and 2-years-old son swimming for the first time. A few mins later I receive a message on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) from Dilek asking me not to fly the drone there and that she likes to keep her privacy. Maybe she was annoyed from his crying as it was his first time in the pool, but when I rent a house with a pool, I expect to have the freedom to do just that. 4) Poor cleanliness: The bathroom at the lower master bedroom had spider webs and a lizard. Also, the lower bathroom had a bad odor, probably because of poor maintenance of the sewage system. To be fair, towels, linens, the upper bathroom, and the kitchen were all clean. 5) The location is great only if your priority is to visit the ancient city of Ildırı. Else, the nearest swimmable/accessible beach and/or activity is at least a 25 mins drive. The nearby sea is not accessible. Alaçatı is 25 mins drive away. Çeşme is 35 mins drive away. A quite remote place would make the drive worth it, but all previously mentioned reasons ended up offsetting the remoteness benefit.

Dilek and her husband are fantastic hosts who went out of their way to take us in at a very short notice when we were scammed by another host. They made the place ready for us in a few hours so we could move in from the hotel to their place. The place is located a few minutes drive from Cesme and it is situated in a beautiful garden overlooking the water. The house itself is a very tidy two bedroom home with its own veranda. Dilek and her husband put an additional bed in the small living room as we were a big family of seven. They were also exceptionally helpful in giving us advice on places to visit, restaurants, etc. For breakfast they filled the fridge with all the necessary supplies as well as getting us fresh bread, different varieties of homemade jams and olive oil. We really had no complaints about either the place or the hosts and would be more than happy to stay there again if we visit Cesme. We recommend the place without any reservations.

Dilek and Geza provide exactly the experience that AirBNB was made for - an authentic, welcoming and unique place to stay that is so much more than just a hotel or B&B. On arrival Dilek showed us the fridge stuffed with food, water, fresh bread and fruit from the garden, which meant no supermarket trip for our whole stay! Every morning Geza brought a fresh breakfast of fruit, yoghurt and pastries to make sure we never went hungry. They are exemplary hosts, and are always available to help out with any request you might have, from advice and information through to providing a fan when it got too hot (at 2am!). On the last night we had drinks on their veranda and ate Dilek's delicious homemade lemon meringue pie. The property itself is basic but charming, with everything you need for a relaxed stay. It's a few minutes walk to the village centre, with a variety of small restaurants, stalls and a basic minimart. The beach is small but quiet, and mostly pebbly - if you want a "proper" beach you'll need to head up the coast to Iliaca beach (about 15 mins). However, it's fine for a dip on a hot day. A little further afield is Alicate, which is a medium-sized town with a great Saturday market, so perfect for a buzzy night out. Dilek and Geza recommended a fantastic restaurant which was one of the highlights of the trip. About 40 minutes away is Cesme, from which you can catch a ferry over to Chios and get a Greek island experience as well. Whenever I use AirBNB I'm always on the lookout for experiences like this - unique, interesting and insightful that provide a real taste of the local culture. To Dilek and Geza this is more than just a business - they honestly love meeting people from all over the world, and it shows in the quality of their hosting. Leaving them felt like saying goodbye to old friends, and I'm sure we'll be back before long.

For the last 40 years I have lived nearly all my life in between Paris-Brussels, and since few years we have decided with my husband to settle back to Turkey again. He is Belgian, and he loves the quality of life we live in Ildır as well as the calm and the possibilities of getting nearly the best of what nature offers..We were both in advertising business for years, and we love open minded, creative and interesting people..We love any kind of arts, history, and architecture as well as all kinds of music. I adore literature and philosophy. Movies and theatres for me is a must:-)
We traveled a lot in our life time, my best destinations were certainly Venice-Costa Rica-Anguilla for not counting the rest.
Personally I believe that each place has a soul and we like it or not, we have to respect it.
