About this listing
Location and comfort - the two keys to any good AirBnB.
And here, you'll get the best of both!
Situated in the heart of Philly's best neighborhood, Northern Liberties, you're only steps (literally) from incredible restaurants (with great happy hours!), the Piazza at Schmidts, Fillmore music venue, and even North Bowl.
Back at the house, you can relax in comfort with four brand new green tea infused memory foam mattresses, a huge couch, and a kitchen stocked with everything you will need.
We have taken great care to provide you with not only a beautiful space, but furnishings that will make your stay super comfortable.
All the furnishings are BRAND NEW!
And you won't find a sleeper sofa or air mattress here - instead, we have 4 brand new memory foam mattresses and beds to ensure everyone is as comfortable as possible.
The living room, fully stocked kitchen, and back patio are all on the first floor.
You also have access to a washer and dryer to use, which is in the basement.
On the 2nd floor, you have the "master" bedroom with a queen sized memory foam mattress and clothing rack and the "brick" bedroom, which has a full size memory foam mattress and dresser.
To access the 3rd floor, you must climb up a "ladder", which has a steepness halfway between regular stairs and an actual ladder.
Once you get up the ladder, there are two rooms on the third floor, divided by a wall. We lovingly call these "Penthouse 1" and "Penthouse 2".
Each one has slanted ceilings but plenty of room to walk in and sleep, and each comes with a brand new queen sized memory foam mattress.
Please note: There is no bathroom on the third floor, so if you're staying up there, you'll have to use the 2nd floor bathroom.
Guests will have access to the ENTIRE space - from the washer and dryer in the basement, the back patio, and the whole first, second and third floors.
Interaction with guests
You'll have the entire house to yourself, but we love to make ourselves available through text, calling, or email should you have any questions about the house or wonderful city of Philadelphia.
Northern Liberties isn't called known as "Philly's Hottest Neighborhood" for no reason.
In the last 10 years, it has blown up, and it's the perfect base for exploring Philly.
Because you're tucked in a real neighborhood, removed from the hustle and bustle and madness of Center City, but easily accessible to anything you could want.
Not only are their tons of good restaurants and fun things to do right in Northern Liberties, but you're a 5 minute walk from Fishtown, the next neighborhood to the north and known as Philly's "Brooklyn", which is full of it's own amazing restaurant scene.
Plus, you can easily hop on the "El" to get to Center City (about 10 minute ride), walk to Old City - home to the Liberty Bell and Constitution Center - or even walk to the Convention Center.
So if you want to an area that is located near everything, with some of the best bars and restaurants in the city, and one that is quieter, more tucked away, and more peaceful than the madness of Center City...well, this is it!
Getting around Philly from our home is easy because you have a ton of options.
Walking, biking, public transport, or Uber - whichever you prefer.
Here's a sampling of distances to some places:
Piazza at Schmidt's - 2 minute walk
Fillmore Music venue - 5 minute walk (if that)
Fishtown neighborhood - 7 minute walk
Liberty Bell - 30 minute walk, 10 minute drive
Penn's Landing - 30 minute walk, 10 minute drive
Convention Center - 40 minute walk, 10 minute drive
Reading Terminal Market - 40 minute walk, 10 minute drive
"Rocky Steps"/Art Museum - 50 minute walk, 15 minute drive (cheap Uber)
Also, public transportation is very convenient. Our house is a 7 minute walk from the Spring Garden stop of the "The El" (Market/Frankford Line), which will get you to Center City in less than 10 minutes.
Other things to note
There is only one full bathroom, located on the 2nd floor.
Also, the third floor is accessed by a "ladder" (the best way to describe this is that the steepness is halfway between regular stairs and one of those ladders you pull down to get to someone's attic).
So while it is perfectly fine for most people, if you have mobility issues, you should probably stay in either of the 2nd floor bedrooms.
From May 1 - Sep 30, 2017 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
We were both born in the Philadelphia area and after bouncing around, both found ourselves going to college here as well.
After a few years teaching high school history and then a few years teaching English in Japan, we started our own travel website and podcast, which we're lucky enough to do full-time.
We love to travel (good thing, right, since it's our "job"), explore new cultures, and best of all, meet new people.
We've traveled to over 40 countries and in a typical year spend more time out traveling than in our home, which is why we love offering it up on AirBnB so others can enjoy it.
We've been fortunate enough to have amazing experiences as guests through AirBnB, and before that existed (wow, a world without AirBnB) through other sharing programs like Couchsurfing and homestays. Now it's time for us to give back and share our home as well!
