The surrounding environment is quiet and peaceful as Japanese residents living here, so no worries about noise. My room can accommodate 2 people. Couple or mini group are welcome! I will pay for professional cleaner to clean the house so it’s very clean. It only takes 5min to walk to the nearest station! Two large windows and a floor-to-ceiling window enable fresh air and sunshine pouring into the house. The room is decorated in a traditional Japanese style with wooden and modern furnitures.

Kale's place is just as described and as in the pictures. Really big studio (for Japan) in a central area of Tokyo. It is accesible walking 5 minutes on the brown line and its close to one of the main stations, Shinjuku, where you can get busses or trains to the airport or to other destinations. The check in is very easy with the information provided. The only downside is that the bathroom is VERY small. So if this is no issue for you, this apartment will be of a great value for the money!!

Response from Kale:
Hi, Eddie. Thanks for you review. The bathroom is a little small and I feels that hot tub and toilet seat is needed. But just forgot the washbasin. So it is a little crowd. But who will travel thousands miles here for a bathroom, is it? ( ̄ ̄)"

Very close to subway lines, Korean food, convenience stores and grocery stores. The space is very small and in an older residential area which was a bit hard to navigate. Follow his guidebook photos exactly to find the apartment. Also, the pocket wifi included in the apartment did not hold a charge for more than an hour causing us to use our own international data. We had to use extra back up batteries and charge whenever we could on public transit. The guidebook provided was helpful for house appliances and directions from Higashi-Shinjuku station, however, included washer/dryer information but there is not one in the apartment. When I contacted Kale about this, he responded promptly that there is a coin wash nearby. Also in the guidebook, the host mentions not to tell neighbors that we are renting the space through Air B&B. Not sure if that is typical in this area but made us feel uncomfortable not being able to be transparent. Shower/bathroom is tiny but useful for the basics. Kale was very quick to respond to my messages which was helpful.

Room is very small and the bathroom is tiny -- like an airplane bathroom -- nearly impossible to move around

This apartment really is a tiny studio with a even tinier bathroom. Worth noting that apartment is on third floor with no elevator. If you are even a bit bigger than the average Japanese person the tiny bathroom is very hard to use. The location is also further away from the metro station that anticipated (further than 5 mins as advertised) and the local area is made up of lots of twisting narrow streets - it is very easy to get lost and forget getting a taxi. Kale was nice enough and a fairly good communicator, helpful when things went wrong (we arrived to no electricity power in the apartment). House book could do with some updating ie; no washing machine in apartment or building, and a local area map would have been useful. in the end the amount we paid for this apartment could have got us a hotel room in a more convenient area

This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. The place itself is not bad, even if its way smaller than it seems in the picture and the bathroom is quite impossible to be used. From the very beginning everything went wrong, I was looking for a house in Tokyo and the house of Kyle showed first a price, than another one so I contacted him asking which was the right price and he told me that he had problems with the exchange rate, and he proposed me a special price (I didn't ask for it but he seemed nice), and we accepted. I asked for wifi and if we could just drop the luggage at the apartment cause we were arriving from Kyoto and he said it was ok. When I arrived in Tokyo I saw a message from him saying that the cleaners were late and they had the keys and we couldn't drop the luggage. I was quite annoyed because we were traveling with 4 big luggage and we couldn't walk around Tokyo like that. After I pushed and asked him to find a solution asap, and while waiting for his reply at the station, he told me also that the people that should have checked out that morning (it was already 2 pm) didn't actually check out. In the end he asked a friend to bring us the keys so that we could drop the luggage and the guy didn't even speak a word of English so communication was impossible. When we dropped the luggage we saw that there were still other's people luggage and they actually didn't check out so we couldn't even do the check in cause it was 3 pm in the meanwhile and there was other people's stuff and it wasn't even cleaned. Anyway, we came back in the late evening and I realized that the bathroom was dirty and I had to clean it myself, so I wrote him and he told me that he was sorry but the cleaning lady didn't make it to clean the whole apartment (it's seriously 12 square meters so I wonder what she did) and he let us sleep in the same bedsheets that there were from the previous guest. I was disappointed and angry and I didn't want to stay anymore since I also hace health problems and I didn't want to sleep in a dirty place. I asked him to send a cleaning lady and first he said yes, then he said it was too expensive and that he couldn't send anybody. The day after, again I pushed him to have the apartment cleaned but again he said please find another apartment "if you don't feel comfortable". And no, I didn't feel comfortable sleeping on other people's bedsheets. But we couldn't find another Airbnb and I asked him once again to clean the apartment. Yesterday, he told us ok, we will send someone and I will also bring you a new wifi...

The host moved to to the alternated apartment last minute of the arrival date with specific reasons which I need to take unwillingly without seeing the room pictures prior to the agreement. However, he gave me 10% discount for that. The guidebook was incorrect by giving me the wrong passcode to enter the building and it took 15minutes for the host to give me the correct one. The alternated room location was ok but the room was quite small and the toilet smells.
