Unplug and relax in our newly remodeled century-old family farmhouse. It sleeps 6 with endless Americana charm just across the street from beautiful Bear Lake.

The perfect home for a laid back group of friends, couples or a family to spend time together and make memories.

Includes 3 bedrooms with 2 queen beds & 3 twin beds, 1 full bathroom, a fully stocked kitchen and laundry room.

Located less than 15 minutes from Crystal Mountain, Little River Casino and Manistee, MI.

The space

Northwestern Lower Michigan is the place to check out fall colors. It's coming soon - and probably sooner than usual due to our cooler than average temps AND our Bear Lake home is just the place to call your landing while touring. Welcome to the Century Old Farmhouse! A family treasure of ours for generations and your home away from home. It's decorated with photography, art, books and treasures from over a century of Michigan heritage.

September is rolling in and this is the perfect place to watch the seasons change. The fishing is still good and the salmon are starting to run. Before you know it, various shades of green will convert into wonderful autumnal spectrum of colors.

Just across the street from the house is a staircase descending to a private dock and waterfront landing on Bear Lake that is perfect for swimming off during the day and enjoying the sunset at night. The landing is open year round, but the extended dock is installed Memorial Day weekend and removed Labor Day weekend.

Enjoy the lush green backyard for bonfires and yard games.

The newly remodeled kitchen includes most all major appliances and is stocked with anything your group may need: dining for 8+, pots, pans, storage containers, glassware, coffee pot, electric kettle, griddle, microwave, toaster, crock pot and more.

The living room is stocked with books, board games, playing cards, and puzzles.

Clean linens are provided including bath and kitchen towels as well as bedding.

There are sometimes pets staying in this unit. As much as we try to keep all the hair and allergens away - it isn't always possible. Guests with dog sensitivities should be aware.

Guest access

Guest have private use of the entire house and the private dock located across the street on Bear Lake. There is a fire pit in the backyard.

Pets are welcome on the property. No pets on the upper floor, and please pick up after your furry friends outside.

Interaction with guests

We're available before and during your stay to answer any questions you may have.

Other things to note

We welcome people of all nations, races, genders, orientations, and faiths. We are inclusive and loving.

We had such a delightful and relaxing time at Marta's farmhouse. Everything was so clean and comfy- we felt right at home. Check-in and check out was so easy and the value and space for a family reunion of 6 was unbeatable! We especially appreciated the full kitchen and dining room, where we made a few family meals. Marta was so thoughtful and accommodating in making sure our stay was pleasant and cozy. We will be staying here the next time we visit the northwestern Michigan area :) Highly recommended!

Response from Marta:
So glad you enjoyed our home as much as we do. The dining room table is about as old as the house so it has hosed family meals and table games for over a century. We'd love to have you return.

This house is incredibly roomy and stocked with all that you need! My husband and I brought along our mini dachshund, and he loved running around the large yard. We enjoyed exploring nearby towns... and exploring downtown Manistee (I went nuts in the used bookstore!), and up through downtown Frankfort and the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Such a cozy little find. We were so happy here, and would recommend it to anyone that’s looking at this listing! You won’t regret it!

Very nice older charming cottage that is in the perfect location for any & all activities north west lake michigan shores offer!! Right on 31 so very busy & kinda noisy till about 10-11 pm. But was the perfect location 15 minutes to Benzonia (grocery store) & Betsie river, 30 mins to Platte river point/ campground, canoe rental in honor. / Sleeping bear dunes lakeshore at lake Michigan and 50 mins to Glen Arbor coast guard museum, cannery, blacksmith shop...We were very comfortable in this cute historic home built in 1902, we all fit perfectly in the 4 bedrooms and 5 beds, even with 6 women sharing one bathroom!! My only suggestion would be to have some one brush off the cobwebs off the front porch/ siding ( in front) & window areas & Spider webs inside window panes (noticed when opened for air flow). my sister's were scared to sit out on the porch but did anyway!! Lol.. otherwise everything is very clean and a well kept cottage! ! House is very clean, nice fluffy towels, plenty of extra pillows & blankets and kitchen stocked with all the dishes, cooking gadgets/supplies u could need, even a gas grill on the back deck! There is only 1 big bathroom but plenty of anything needed, bathtub could use new caulking, but was clean!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Farmhouse. The house was clean and spacious, with a gas grill and fire pit in the back, and a great view of the sunset on Bear lake. The kitchen was very well equipped for making meals. The house is centrally located for visits to the Sleeping Bear Dunes, the numerous lakes in the area, kayaking, and surrounding towns and sights. Overall, a wonderful place to stay.
