A beautiful clean and fully renovated 3 bedroom cottage set in the pretty village of Pech Luna, close to Carcassonne, Castelnaudary and the stunning medieval town of Mirepoix. The cottage has a large, private and fully enclosed garden with a decking area and a charming outdoor dining area situated under hanging vines. Upstairs you will find a large sun terrace, with amazing views of the Pyrenees, where better to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun slowly sinking? Although the property has 3 bedrooms we can accommodate additional guests on a very comfortable sofa bed in the sunroom.
This cottage offers a comfortable base to explore stunning, mysterious and ancient lands which nestle between the Pyrenees and the Montagne Noir. Ideal for Exploring the local vineyards, Cathar castles or take a pleasant stroll through gentle rolling countryside. For the more adventurous, try white water rafting, canyoning, rock climbing, mountain biking and hill walking. Then all come together for a trip to the Mediterranean to enjoy all the delights of the seaside resorts (approx 75 minute drive away), or take a boat trip on the serene and tree lined canal du Midi. The region is a Foodies paradise, with the local dishes of Cassoulet (created at Castelnaudary and featured by Rick Stein in his Oddysey) and Fricasee (from Limoux) not to be missed. Discover the excellent Malapere wines at one of the many vineyards on your doorstep, and the fine sparkling wines of Limoux (said to pre-date Champagne).
Then when the day is done relax on the patio deck or take a glass of wine up to the south facing 1st floor terrace to watch the sun go down.
Guests will have exclusive access to the whole house.
On the ground floor there is a large sitting room with dining area, a sunroom with a sofa bed, the summer kitchen and a shower room with WC. You also have direct access onto the garden. Making it suitable for someone with limited mobility.
On the first floor is the main kitchen, 2 double bedrooms and the family bathroom. There is also a large study which has two single beds ( one on a mezzanine above) which kids adore! From the kitchen and study you can access the large sun deck.
Interaction with guests
Our home is managed by a local couple who live nearby and are always available within office hours to offer advice, tips and recommendations. They are happy to make reservations on your behalf. If you encounter a problem or an emergency they are contactable 24hours a day.
No smoking in any part of the house, apart from on the terrace and patio deck. Please treat our home with respect and be thoughtful towards our neighbours.
