Our secluded & quirky cottage is tucked away in the grounds of our private estate, a perfect romantic hideaway with easy access from major routes to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Locally on your doorstep are Nature Reserves, full of flora and fauna and Leighton Moss for bird watching. Access through beautiful parkland to your private oasis. Enjoy evening drinks on your private roof terrace with the family's ducks & peacocks overlooking the old Stable Yard, or play a game of tennis.

The space

Our place is private and accessed up our drive through private Parkland on our small South Lakeland estate.
The cottage is "upside down" with the living room upstairs and the bedroom kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor. There is access to the roof terrace from the living room where you can peacefully watch the peacocks and white doves going about their day.

Guest access

There is access to the beautiful parkland where there is a tennis court, or stroll through the woodland to find the Nature Reserve just behind the cottage.

Interaction with guests

The cottage is just behind the main house so we are usually around to help with any queries or info about the local area. Our gardener Jeff is on site daily and he has huge knowledge of the local countryside.

What a wonderful place full of real character. Peacocks on the doorstep, ducks outside the bedroom window - delightful. Definitely secluded on a large, grand property. The place to go to "get away from it all" but close to the lakes district if that's were you want to go. Recommended.

Thomasina's lovely home is at the end of a lane in a secluded area near both the Dales and the Lakes Region of England. The house is lovely, large and roomy, with a huge, comfortable bed and fast wifi. Her cooking facilities were adequate for all of our needs, and the kitchen is stocked with a nice variety of foods. Some incredible walking trails are found just outside the door starting on the property. And within a few miles drive in any direction there are dozens of trails and vistas that are breathtaking in their beauty. This destination is an incredible value for its' location. We stayed a week and wish we could have remained longer. Thomasina's home was one of our favorite stops in our 6 month trip through Europe. We hope we can come again one day!

The accommodation was exactly as described. The photos on the website truly represented the cottage. We had everything that we needed for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. We didn't get to meet Thomasina as she was away, but communication by text and email was very helpful and friendly.

Thomasina was very friendly and easy to communicate with. The cottage is located in a beautiful, peaceful setting and the interior was even nicer than expected. The kitchen was stocked with the basics and even had some goodies to nibble on upon arrival. There are several good pubs in small, quaint villages within a 10-20 minute drive. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to others.

Lovely cottage in gorgeous surroundings. Great place for a peaceful escape, friendly feathery neighbours, really not that noisy! Not good if you want to go out to bars, pubs etc. but great for a peaceful getaway and in a perfect location to explore the Lakes and Dales.

Exactly as described. A small piece of heaven and a great base from which to explore the Lakes District.

One of the nicest cottages we've stayed in over the last few years, very warm and cosy and great size accommodation. Loved the big bathroom, great shower and dressing table was a bonus. Would have loved the weather to have been warmer so we could have sat out on the balcony, maybe next time...
