My place is close to The Cannock Chase Museum and Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, local golf courses, Lichfield, several National Trust properties, The National Memorial Arboretum and Rugeley. Train service from Rugeley to Birmingham.

The space

Our bedrooms are very much "home from home" and all have stunning views of the surrounding farmyard and countryside views. Each bedroom has ensuite facilities comprising a shower, toilet and washbasin. There are televisions in each room and tea making facilities and coffee making trays.

Other things to note

Breakfast is served in the dining room, leading onto the conservatory and looking over the garden and fields beyond. Breakfast is home cooked and we can cater for all tastes from fruit and cereals to a full Staffordshire breakfast.

Mavis's place is an authentic working farm where a warm and furry greeting from one of the farm's friendly sheep dogs awaits your arrival. I hope Mavis would be happy for me to describe her as a typical farmers wife who is as friendly and likeable as her dogs. My bedroom window was filled by a view of half green field and half sky, with woolly sheep rolling across the field in one direction and fluffy clouds rolling across the sky in the other. Unfortunately, I did not have time for my vegetarian breakfast, just a few sips of tea, but at a glance, I saw the breakfast table nicely set out with a fan of morning papers, fruit, what I suspect was homemade butter and I am sure, if I only had time to look, I would have found a couple of pots of homemade jam for toast too.

Rural, quiet farm B&B Don't expect a swanky room with fabulous facilities, this is a working farm run by an elderly couple who will make you very welcome in their home. They communicate well and gave perfect directions to the property. The excellent breakfast is all fresh cooked local produce (some from the farm). The B&B is remarkable value as long as you like dogs, which I do.

I just loved my stay here. Mavis is a wonderful lady and knows how to make you feel welcome and comfortable.(Home made cake, a pot of tea and a roaring log fire on arrival) Plenty of choice for breakfast and super fresh eggs. My room was light and comfortable with a lovely view overlooking the cottage garden and farmland. Slept in an old looking double bed but so comfy...you just sank into it and I slept like a log.So peaceful! Total value for money will most definately use again. If you love a traditionally furnished characterful working farmhouse with sheep (like I do) this is the place to stay.

This was my second stay with Mavis. On my last trip I found it was an ideal place for a night in the Rugeley/Lichfield area: welcoming, homey, comfortable and great value. It was lovely to be back!

I wholeheartedly recommend Mavis's farm for being comfortable, welcoming, peaceful, and superb value for money, in a useful location. It is a real farm, sheepdogs, tractors and all, and Mavis is a countrywoman who welcomes you warmly to her home. I am looking forward to another visit before long.

This is a working farm so is never going to be pristine. We were welcomed by Mavis, three very friendly dogs and coffee and biscuits. The room is spacious and has an en suite. The breakfast was very extensive despite Mavis having to dash off early to a wedding. There's also a good pub (The Ash Tree) within 5 mins walk, on the canal and meals at two for the price of one. The farm is also within easy walking distance of Rugeley. Mavis's place is excellent value for money.

I am an OAP married with 2 grown-up sons and 2 grandchildren. I enjoy outdoor life and the countryside We have 2 collie dogs which work with the sheep. I seem to be full of ideas but not the time to do it all.
