Ryecroft House is a former farmhouse that dates back to the Seventeenth Century. It is situated in Ryecroft, a hamlet of half a dozen or so houses, a little less than a mile above the centre of Holmfirth. There is plenty of off-road parking and a substantial garden for guests’ use. Guests’ accommodation is the top floor of the house. Access is through the main house but the flat itself is fully independent with a lockable entrance.

The space

Ryecroft House is a former farmhouse that dates back to the Seventeenth Century. It is situated in Ryecroft, a hamlet of half a dozen or so houses, a little less than a mile above the centre of Holmfirth. There is plenty of off-road parking and a substantial garden for guests’ use. There are a number of pubs within walking distance and access to lovely walks directly from the house. Holmfirth itself has a good selection of restaurants and pubs.

Guests’ accommodation is the top floor of the house. Access is through the main house but the flat itself is fully independent with a lockable entrance. It includes a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, a shower and WC, a double bedroom and a sizeable living room. The living room is light and spacious with a row of nine mullioned weavers’ cottage windows which provide plenty of light and attractive views. There is high speed internet access over WiFi for laptops and tablets and a fully connected television with free access to Netflix in addition to the usual streaming services. At over seventeen by twenty feet, there is plenty of room for the dining table that sits four. The bedroom has a king sized bed but there is also a sofa bed in the living room and a portable cot if needed. The shower has good water pressure and unlimited hot water.

First of all, Simon's flat is truly enormous - you could fit a 2nd king size bed in the bedroom and still have masses of room to spare! It has a lot of history - and, with that, comes creaky floorboards and other signs of age. But it has a great 'vibe', with fantastic views from the many windows. The kitchen is new and generally well-equipped, although some people may miss a microwave. Finally, Simon is a thoughtful, well-informed host. All in all, we had a very enjoyable visit.
