All about Emma’s place

In the grounds of Lough Rynn Castle, our house is ideal for a family Staycation or wedding guests at weddings in the hotel. Our spacious house sleeps 6/7 and the fee is for the entire house.

There's ample free parking, a large green area at rear for children to play, walking and cycling in the grounds, plenty of easy day trips and delicious dining options in this artisan food county.

This is tranquil rural Ireland at its beautiful best, with lots of activities too. A holiday for everyone!

The space
The house is a three bedroom property that sleeps 6/7 comfortably.

Our house is a spacious three bedroom house, with an open plan living and dining space downstairs. The dining table seats 8 people comfortably. Patio doors open out to the communal green space to the rear of the property - ideal for children to play safely and for supervised dogs to run.

The house is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac with two parking spaces adjacent to the property and plenty more parking available. A gate at the end of the cul-de-sac just beyond our house brings you into the grounds of Lough Rynn Castle. The Conference & Banqueting rooms (weddings) are less than 2 minutes walk from the house.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday, including an iron/ironing board, full dishwasher, microwave, four ring hob and oven and a fridge freezer. All utensils, cutlery, crockery and pots are also provided and there is gas fired central heating, and a full fridge freezer.

There is a separate entrance hall and large downstairs WC which is wheelchair accessible. (Please note the house is two storey with stairs).

Upstairs you have a main bathroom with electric shower and bathtub, two spacious double bedrooms (one ensuite with electric shower), and a bunk room with an extra single pull out bed. There is ample storage space in each bedroom, and plenty of room for a travel cot in both double bedrooms. We provide one travel cot if required.

The double rooms are also equipped with hairdryers, and all bed linens and towels are provided.

Although we have wifi in the house, the reception in the area is poor generally, even in the hotel as we are surrounded by trees.

For family staycations we've got a few rainy day amenities - DVD's and a player, an older playstation with some retro games, etc.

Where you’ll be

Lough Rinn, County Leitrim, Ireland

Leitrim is a beautiful county and you are also close to Longford, Roscommon, Athlone and Sligo for day trips out and about.

Carrick-on-Shannon is the nearest big town, about a 20 minute drive, and the village of Mohill is a 5 minute drive. There are plenty of eating options in Carrick-On-Shannon and about 10 minutes away is the village of Dromod, with several eating options to choose from.

We particularly like The Oarsman in Carrick-On-Shannon for excellent gastro pub food, and Coxes Steakhouse in Dromod for family dining and a great steak. Both are currently offering take out too!

Other options include The Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon, and the Copper Still in Dromod, who also have regular live music nights.

There are also good take away options in and around Mohill – the take away in nearby Drumlish has great pizzas.

If you are staying for a few days and have children in your group, you cannot leave without a visit to Lough Key Forest Park! Lough Key is a great destination for a day out. For a small fee (€4) you can drive your car in and bring a picnic, walk the trails and let the kids enjoy the large, well equipped playground. For more action, you can also enjoy the zipline (outdoors) and the Boda Borg (indoors and brilliant on a rainy day), both of which charge additional fees.

Carrick-On-Shannon offers loads of options for families, from swimming at Aura Leisure to Carrick Cineplex for movies, the Moon River Cruise, Karting, Bowling and more.
