French farmhouse in the 12th century village of Amberac. It is located perfectly for family-friendly activities. There is plenty of outdoor space to play and relax, 10m private secluded pool, a large kitchen with table large enough for all to eat together, spacious rooms and relaxation areas, tranquility, and comfy beds. The house is good for families (with kids) and big groups, special occasions, relaxation, cycling trips, playing by the river and having picnics on the banks.
Originally the house was two separate dwellings, back to back. It has been joined now but still keeps the original charm and character. However, the division allows for a great deal of privacy even when the house is full. We are currently renovating a few of the rooms and updating the bathrooms, so this will all be new for the season and we will be updating the photographs as soon as we can. It can sleep up to 16 people if needed, but 12 is we think the perfect number.
You will have full access to the whole house and the outbuildings with the exception of the garage where the provisions are kept, along with the beach buggy project! You will be left in complete privacy throughout your stay. The only exception being the pool cleaner once during the week.
Other things to note
We also have 4 mountain bikes in the barn for visitors use as well as a rowing boat to paddle about in on the Charente, just down the lane, and a pile of games such as backgammon. The gazibo area and around the wishing well are great places to play board games and relax in the shade, whilst the sun worshippers relax by the pool and kids play games in the separate, but visible, games area. If you have little ones, don't worry, the pool area has a secure gate at each end.
Treat our home as you would yours .
We are Nina and James. We have one daughter . I, Nina, am originally from the tropical island of Madeira, Portugal, and my husband, James is british born. We have known Mulberry Farmhouse for a few years as use to be owned by a close friend and we ended up getting married in a nearby church in Villejesus in 2014, and the small wedding party all stayed in Mulberry Farmhouse for the weeks surrounding the wedding. So it has a very special place in our hearts, and when we got the chance to buy it, we couldn't say no! We enjoy being outdoors and are active cyclists. I also love gardening, baking and my husband is a keen kayaker and sailor. I am also fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish and we can both get by in Italian. We are also trying to learn French! We discovered Airbnb a few years ago and it is now the first place we look when planning a trip, at home or abroad.
