The large double bedroom is 17’ x 13’ and includes a TV area, wardrobe, bedside locker, a desk and chairs. (See also our other double room for availability). There is a Bathroom (with bath, separate shower & toiletries) adjoining the Bedroom and shared by guests.
A generous self-service breakfast in the large Dining Room is included.
We have a child's crib/cot and a folding bed if needed.
There's plenty of parking space and the garden and woodland walks are lovely any time of the year!

The space

Our detached house is in a lovely quiet location just inside the Cork City boundary with the countryside on one side and the city on the other. It’s just five minutes by car from the city centre and five minutes also from the world famous Blarney Castle. The house looks out over the Irish countryside while at the same time is close to all city centre amenities and popular visitor attractions.
There's plenty of parking on the grounds and bus stops are within a short walking distance.
We're very proud of our show gardens and woodland walks which guests are free to explore and enjoy.

Interaction with guests

If our guests don’t have a car we are usually available to collect them from the railway or bus station or from Cork City airport. We are generally free also to drive our visitors (who become friends straight away!) to the city centre or to Blarney Castle because these so near.
Because we are more or less experts on Cork and Kerry we can advise on the best things to see and do in this part of Ireland! We also help with private guided tours to any part of Cork or Kerry including Cork City, The Ring of Kerry or even a climb of Ireland’s highest mountain, Carrauntoohil.

Other things to note

A folding bed can be added to the room if three people wish to stay.

The room and associated facilities were outstanding, very quiet and private. The host Declan is very warm and friendly and gave great advice on are future travels. The breakfast was excellent as was our entire experience.

Don't look any further! You cannot find any better than staying with Declan! He was absolutely lovely from the second we booked our stay in Cork. After he had generously offered to pick us up from the bus stop, our bus ended up being 30 minutes late yet Declan still proceeded to pick us up! Even though we never got to meet, Declan's wife has an eye for beauty and it shows in their stunning landscape and gorgeous home. So stunning, that we wanted to skip part of the morning just to explore its beauty instead of heading to the city center. The house itself felt more than like home with inviting family photos from their hiking adventures accompanied with Declan's jaw-dropping artwork. After settling in, Declan was wonderful and dropped us of at Blarney Castle which is only a 5 min drive from the house! He had suggested to check out St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral, which we found to be more impressive that St. Fin Barre's Cathedral. It was free and one of our favorites of our Ireland adventure hands down. Unfortunately, we had to leave the next morning to head on up to Galway and it decided to rain pretty steady. Instead of making us walk in the rain or call a cab, Declan was so generous to give us a lift into the city to catch our bus. You will be hard pressed to find more warmth and genuine hospitality. You have really found a gem of a place and should not pass it up. Wonderful people, stunning landscape, best hospitality that we have found yet. Thank you Declan for the best stay and your selfless hospitality.

Very cute and clean. Marie and Delcan personally greet you when you arrive and they have gone the extra mile with ammenities (kettle in the room, fresh cakes on the counter, shampoo and body wash, big beds that are VERY comfortable. I accidently left my charger plugged in and he ruahed out to follow us in his car and made sure I got it back.

Declan and Marie were the best! Not only did Declan pick us up at the airport, he also drove us into town and to the Blarney Castle. We had a full notebook of all of the great spots in Cork as well as information for our stay there. We will definitely want to stay with them again!

Such a charming host family! The Tulip Room was spacious and well appointed. Everything was very clean and quite comfortable. It included a private sitting area with TV. The shared bathroom worked out fine and had both tub and shower. Breakfast was in their hearth kitchen and had fresh fruit, breads, yogurt, juice, cereals and eggs if we wanted! The hosts are a treat and made our stay quite like we were staying with family. Don't miss the gardens as they are unique and a wonderful spot to unwind. We would definately stop again.

Declan User ProfileDeclan is a superhost.

Marie and I are an active couple who play tennis and go hillwalking almost every week throughout the year. Our other interests include gardening and art – I'm a caricature artist (check out my Declan Malone Artist website). Our house is cosy and homely and we love to have people visit the house and gardens. Guests who stay with us become friends straight away!
