Private, sophisticated getaway with a distinct 1980s ambiance, full of subtle character. Perfect for couples or solo travelers, this spacious loft guesthouse is sure to relax, recharge, and inspire.
Decorated with a mix of timeless contemporary and iconic vintage pieces, our private loft house is designed to delight and provide an exceptional getaway in Idyllwild. The rambling layout features six levels from attic to deck, with lots of space in all the right places. While nostalgic amenities allow for a time capsule experience, the loft house is also equipped with standard modern conveniences.
The living area under the loft features a 27" vintage CRT television, a VCR/DVD player with a selection of classic VHS tapes, Roku, and a comfortable sofa set to enjoy. An extensive catalog of additional VHS titles is available for guests to choose from upon arrival. Gorgeous forest views surround, and windows are dressed with insulative light filtering cellular shades to accommodate individual light preferences.
The living space between the entry and kitchen has a game table, cabinet full of vintage board games, puzzles, and blankets to keep cozy. A skylight and high ceiling brighten the area. Under the staircase is a stereo receiver with turntable and a small collection of vinyl records to set the mood.
The kitchen's high ceilings and ample windows give an airy, open feel. In addition to the standard refrigerator/freezer, oven/range, and microwave, there is a coffeemaker, toaster, and medium sized crock pot to use. In the cabinets and drawers you'll find glasses - juice, tumbler, red and white wine - and coffee mugs, flatware, plates, bowls, cutting board, cooking knives, assortment of cooking implements and kitchen gadgets, food storage/cooking casserole dishes, baking sheet, pitcher, ice bucket, bottle opener and corkscrew.
Surrounded completely by trees, the hillside deck is outfitted with four refurbished vintage patio chairs with two parsons tables between them. Perfect for relaxing with a book and a cup of coffee or glass of wine, it's also a great place to roll out a mat and practice yoga, meditate, or just stretch out. A propane grill is available for guest use. Smoking is permitted on the deck. Due to fire safety concerns, ashtrays are provided and must be used.
The sleeping loft has a low slung queen bed flanked with compact nightstands and reading lights, a cabinet for guest use, a 24" smart TV, and a spectacular view. The comforter and pillows are hypoallergenic. A fun space to hang out in or for guests to store larger luggage items, the cozy, triangular attic room near the bed houses several additional comforters and a folding luggage rack for your convenience.
The bathroom boasts a generous jetted corner spa tub and the handheld shower attachment can be put into a user-friendly ceiling fixture to allow for standing showers. Shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, hand soap, toothpaste, washcloths, towels, and a hair dryer are provided for your comfort.
The loft house is set up to be your own private haven, and with the exception of the locked utility closet in the kitchen, is all-access to guests. Unassuming from the outside, it is situated behind the main house's garage, which is across the driveway from the main house, providing a very high level of privacy in regards to both the hosts and neighbors.
Parking is available directly in front of the loft house.

Hi! I'm a painter (both kinds) and musician (vox, keys, guitar) with a keen interest in design. I designed and decorated our guesthouse with the intent of it being a kind of sculpture you can live in for a bit; I've always been fascinated by the feelings associated with and ascribed to specific eras, and how our surroundings can shape our sense of time as place.
I also make instrument cables and hunt for vintage clothing, small appliances, household items and objects d'art in their natural commercial habitats, procuring for enjoyment and/or resale. I think that music videos are probably the highest form of art.
As a host, I'm here to help, but will mostly be out of your way to experience Idyllwild and your time in the guesthouse as unencumbered by our presence as possible. My favorite genre is comedy.
