The space
'Druid cottage' was previously a thatched roofed family dwelling in the 1800's, later it became the dairy when a new cottage was built for the family and today after renovations it is an airy open plan living space again.

Attached to the main room is a well equipped kitchen with full sized cooking stove, microwave, Lavazza coffee maker, kettle, toaster etc. Tea, coffee and the usual condiments are on the shelf.

Healthy seasonal Organic vegetables can be bought on a stall across the road, run on trust, you just put the money in an honesty box on the table. Unpasteurised milk, cheese and yogurt can also be bought from the organic farm which is a small walk up the lane.

The bedroom is a mezzanine/loft bedroom. Please, take note of the rustic and securely fixed wooden ladder as seen in the photos. The bed is a comfortable mattress on the floor as the height of a full bed would be too near the ceiling. There are also single beds one in the loft and a single day bed downstairs.

Bathroom is an enclosed space off the main room with shower, toilet and wash hand basin, towels, toilet rolls and soap are provided.

Washing machine and dryer, although available in the nearby shed are not included in the price because most guests do not require these facilities, again there is an honesty box by the machines for you to deposit your contribution. Iron and board are in the main room clothes closet along with a small hair dryer.

Heating is Solid fuel with a basic level complimentary background electric heat, its nice to have while you fire up the stove.
If you prefer to use only electric heat, we can turn up the setting, read meter on Check out and collect balance after 15 units per day.
Wood is available at service stations and hardware merchants. The small fire logs are best. If you forget to buy fuel, there is a bag of wood by washing machines and again, the donations box is useful.

This cottage is a much-welcomed home base after a long day of exploring and is a suitable space for a couple and the loan traveler.
Sit outside in the garden on a warm summers evening or cozy up by the wood-burning stove on a winters night.

I live next door, respect my guest’s privacy and the individual loan traveler has the comfort of knowing that they are not entirely alone on this calm quiet hillside.

With concerns for everyone's health we leave 24 hrs between guests to allow for extra sanitisation. We have also minimised some soft furnishings and extra kitchen utensils to enable easier cleaning but if you need anything please ask and we will facilitate where possible

During the winter season this cottage is available for a long term rent as it is an ideal ‘Home from Home’ space and with Satilite internet its also a joyful change for people working remotely.
Artists, writers and digital nomads, have enjoyed long stays at this cottage while working and also taking in the sights.
The East Clare walking trail is on the door step which is fantastic for refreshing mind, body and soul.

DRUID COTTAGE gets its name from the area 'Glendree' which means Glen of kings or some say glen of druids or magic. Situated on a quiet hillside that is 'off the beaten track' a place inhabited by friendly welcoming farmers, a nearby organic fresh food producer with wonderful fresh milk, eggs and other seasonal products plus the many artists and healers dotted about. Situated also between the two villages of Feakle and Tulla , we are also so lucky to be on the East Clare walking trail and not far from Lough Derg to the east and the Wild Atlantic way to the west. We are also situated half way between the two towns of Ennis and Gort for big shops, museums and a Cathedral when open along with the usual many Pubs and music as is the famous Feakle but sadly till further notice music and other activities are closed.

Born in Dublin with wanderlust I enjoyed some world travel, eventually settling in beautiful Clare to raise my family and immerse myself in the art of textiles and a slow pace of life. Today I enjoy hosting and regularly hike in France and Ireland walking hill and coastal paths.
Let me know if you have any questions I respond quickly and by message on the site and also my phones online text when bookd. I also live nextdoor, often meet quests for a chat outside but mainly I respect that it's your 'Time out' .......
