Many historic sights, walking trails, lakes, horse riding, kayaking, traditional music, good pub food, and local pale ale nearby. Spring water on tap in a well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed with bed linen/towels/shower gel provided and a cosy warm romantic wood burning stove.

The space

Druí cottage is described as rustic but very comfortable. It is warm and quiet making it ideal for rest, writing, study and other projects.
It is open plan with a loft space bedroom; please take note of the rustic but securely fixed wooden ladder as seen in the photos. There is also a single bed in main room and extra pull out beds if needed.
The bathroom has shower, toilet, hand basin with soap, shower gel and towels provided. Please note that the shower is is not a power shower and is suitable for a quick shower.
The kitchen with spring water on tap is in the main room. Complimentary tea, coffee, oil, the usual condiments, if anything is missing just ask. Organic seasonal vegetables can be bought on a stall just across the road, it works on trust and you just put the money in the box. If you are arriving late in the day with no time for a grocery shop, you can email me a list of items and I will be happy to pick up what you need.
Arrive home to the cottage after a days adventure to a relaxing quiet space with a warm solid fuel wood burner, cook a meal of your choice or grab a take away in Tulla town or head up to Feakle village for a Guinness stew or fresh seafood.
Washing machine and dryer is available but not included in the price, again you just put the money in the box by machines.
I live beside the cottage where I'm available for help and advice and while I respect your space, you also have the comfort of knowing that you are not totally alone on this beautiful and peaceful hillside. I work from home designing and handcrafting landscape inspired shawls and other accessories which guests can enjoy a 15% discount.

During the low season this cottage is available long term for an agreed price. Do contact me for more information.

Guest access

Guests have access to the garden and walks in the nearby East Clare way. Also when I'm not available for Check In the guest is emailed information on how to access the cottage.

Interaction with guests

I have traveled extensively so naturally I enjoy interacting with people but I also respect their privacy, coming into your space only when invited. On winter days when you are out exploring I will light the stove for a warm return but only when I am home and available. Loan travelers have the comfort of knowing that they are not entirely alone, on this peaceful hillside and when I'm away my friend and neighbour is available to help you out if needed.
When possible I enjoy spending a day out with guests or share an evening meal but mostly it is your holiday and adventure, take the day and weather as you find it!

What an amazing get away! I absolutely loved staying at this quaint cottage in the countryside. Wish we could have stayed longer! Everything was perfect.

The cottage is in a very scenic central location. There are farms and homes close by but it is still private. Bring a Garmin/GPS to assist in your travels in Ireland. It was quiet and relaxing at the cottage, very much enjoyed it. It is located in an area where you can easily make day trips to several different cities or historic places. Pepper's Bar is very close to the cottage, great food and awesome music.

Response from Stephanie:
Happy to hear you both had a safe trip home, a great time in Ireland and after so many scenic trips, a relaxing evening at the cottage. Patrick was a wizard with the stove and yes I would love one of his beautiful handcrafted tippers, it will be displayed with pride on the dresser for all to see and if I ever feel like having a bash at Peppers, I will take it along! Thank you both..... Stephanie

This cottage was so charming! My daughter and I stayed a week and it was amazing to have such a cozy place to come back to each evening after a long day of sightseeing. Stephanie was such a welcoming hostess. We arrived on a very early flight and she allowed us to check-in early, helped us get the wood stove going, and was always available for questions, concerns, and tidbits of information or direction. The scenery is so definitive of Ireland. Green, lush, (quite often wet!), and quaint. There is even a small farmer's stand across the lane where we could purchase fresh farm eggs. All in all, what a fabulous place to stay, what a wonderful hostess, and what a perfect introduction to Ireland!

Response from Stephanie:
It was a real pleasure to host you and Cassie at the cottage, you certainly did a lot in a week and I too hope that you will return next year, maybe for a longer stay. A longer stay allows a rest between trips on the small Irish roads but yes you had a good introduction to Ireland and I look forward to welcoming you home sometime.

After a good drive from Dublin Airport with our rental car we arrived in Tulla to do some grocery shopping. With directions from Stephanie we then found the cottage without a problem. The house is set at a beautiful scene, with nice roads to take evening walks on. We absolutely loved staying at the cottage, and would have gladly stayed a couple days more! The bed was very comfy and fine for the two of us. The kitchen well equipped and we cooked our dinners multiple times at the cottage. The fireplace made the house warm with lovely heat from the turf/peat of which Stephanie made sure we had enough. From Feakle/Tulla a lot of amazing places to visit are nearby - we would really recommend The Burren and of course The Cliffs of Moher. If you do the Burren by day and the Cliffs after 6 p.m.... you will have an amazing day. Also close by is the Quin Abbey, which we loved. Not touristy at all, but so nice to walk around and feel the history beneath your feet ;-). All in all we had a great week in Feakle thanks to Stephanie and her cute cats and would love to come back again to explore Ireland a bit more!

Thank you Jantine for taking the time to write an informative review. I would love to welcome you both back for some more non touristy discoveries and naturally Connemara! ;)

Stephanie's little cottage is a good location for those who want to explore Clare County but also have a place to retreat and relax. The limited space has been used cleverly (e.g. there's a rack that you can let down from the ceiling to hang your damp clothes on) and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need if you want to cook. We were in the area for the Fleadh Nua festival and had two great evenings at Cruises Bar with traditional music sessions. Stephanie was a great host; always there when we needed her, and she even made us some scones... a nice surprise upon our arrival!

A born wanderer from Dublin I settled in Clare to raise my children and immerse myself in rural life and textiles. I’ve enjoyed some world travel and today I love to wander from France to Ireland and back again, walking hills and coastal paths gathering inspiration for my work and enjoying locally produced organic food, and a good read by the fire at night. I also very much enjoy welcoming people to both my homes and offering help or advice on places to visit, allowing you your space as I appreciate mine.
