The space

Druí cottage is described as rustic but a very comfortable home from home space. It is warm and quiet making it ideal for weary travelers or those who need a place to write or study and other projects.
The layout is open plan with a loft space bedroom; please take note of the rustic but securely fixed wooden ladder as seen in the photos. There is also a single bed in main room and extra pull out beds if needed.
The bathroom has shower, toilet, hand basin with soap, shower gel and towels provided. Please note that the shower is is not a power shower and is suitable only for a quick shower.

The cottage is a welcome home after a days adventure, rekax by the wood burning stove, cook a meal of your choice or grab a take away in Tulla town or head up to Feakle village for a Guinness stew, fresh Seafood, Veggie option and sample the local pale ale.
Washing machine and dryer is available but not included in the price, again it is run on trust, you just put the money in the box by machines.
I live beside the cottage and work from home designing and making landscape inspired knit. I'm available for advice and while I respect your space, you also have the comfort of knowing that you are not totally alone on this beautiful and peaceful hillside.

During the low season this cottage is available long term for an agreed price. Do contact me for further information.
A double room is also available in my house for extra people in your party.

Guest access

Guests have access to the garden and walks in the nearby East Clare way. You can also Check In any time, access to the cottage is flexible because either you will be greeted by myself or friend or given information on self Check In

Interaction with guests

I have traveled extensively so naturally I enjoy interacting with people but I also respect their privacy, coming into your space only when invited. On winter days when you are out exploring I will light the stove for a warm return but only when I am home and available. Loan travelers have the comfort of knowing that they are not entirely alone, on this peaceful hillside and when I'm away my friend and neighbour is available to help you out if needed.
When possible I enjoy spending a day out with guests or share an evening meal but mostly it is your holiday and adventure, take the day and weather as you find it!

If you are looking for a secluded bolthole to write (or in my case edit) your novel, then this is the place! I cocooned myself for four days and three nights in this lovely cottage, warmed by the stove and plentiful supply of logs, safe and secure in the knowledge that Stephanie, my welcoming host, was next door. Perfect.

I had a really nice time staying at Stephanie's cottage. I was working in the area for a couple of days and it nice to come back to a fire lit for us, the place was really warm and cosy i slept very well. Stephanie also left scones and tea and coffee for (URL HIDDEN) is also really reasonably priced. Overall i was really satisfied and would highly recommend it to anybody.

Had a really great stay in the cottage. I went then to relax and switch off from the business of life and there was no better spot. Stephanie is a great host and the cottage is beautiful, cosy and comfortable :-)

It was an amazing stay for the people who are seeking a little bit of a quiet time. Stephanie made it so easy for us. She was even lighting the fireplace for us if she was available. It was a great experience. Especially we loved the cats. The grey one, we called him "Simba" (for no reason haha) but I guess his name is Mr. Peps. An incredibly cute and friendly cat. Probably you need to have a car to go around for the further walking routes like national parks etc. However, in conclusion, definitely a very nice cottage to stay and welcoming people to meet. Thanks a lot Stephanie!

Response from Stephanie:
It's just that it is so nice to come home to a welcome fire after a day having adventurous walks. I guess cute little Mr Pebs loved being called "Simba" must have made him feel like a fierce tiger! Thank you Can :)

Druid Cottage is the perfect place for a secluded getaway. It's warm, comfortable and has a very cosy atmosphere with everything you need close to hand. Stephanie was a wonderful host. She left me to my own devices but was always available if I needed anything. The Burren and the Clare Coast are within easy reach by car. I'll definitely be returning soon.

Druid Cottage is a wonderful haven for anyone seeking some peace and quiet from the busy day-to-day life. Stephanie was a wonderful host and she had the fire lit for us when we arrived on a dark and stormy night - it felt a little bit like a fairy tale! Steph's cottage is super-comfy, with the wonderful loft-bedroom (which I totally fell in love with - now I want one, too!) and the surprisingly efficient little stove. It's a great place to practise some music, too, (we had brought our flutes) and the area is abundant with opportunities to go for a stroll, wander or hike. We went for a hike on part of the East Clare Way and got to see wedge-tombs, forrests and little streams and the other day we drove out to Loch Derg and hiked up Moylussa mountain which gave us great views of the area (despite the rainy day). After a really stressful week Druid Cottage and Steph's warm welcome was just what I needed. We'll definitely be back!

A born wanderer from Dublin I settled in Clare to raise my children and immerse myself in rural life and textiles. I’ve enjoyed some world travel and today I love to wander from France to Ireland and back again, walking hills and coastal paths gathering inspiration for my work and enjoying locally produced organic food, and a good read by the fire at night. I also very much enjoy welcoming people to both my homes and offering help or advice on places to visit, allowing you your space as I appreciate mine.
