Our property is an older, rustic cabin originally built in the 60's in the Avant campground in Concan, Texas. The cabin was built by my grandfather Arthur Avant and has always been in our family. We are currently remodeling and adding two more bedrooms, a bath and a living area. The renovations will be finished in March 2018. Walking distance and access to the Frio River ( approx. 100 yards). 8 miles to Garner State Park.

The space

The cabin will have 3 bedrooms , 2 baths, living area and fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots/pans, microwave and coffee pot, trash bags and paper towels. We furnish bed linens, pillows, towels, and toilet tissue. Guests are responsible for bringing your own towels, tubes, and lawn chairs to take to the river.

Guest access

Guests have access to all the area.

Interaction with guests

We offer self check in but are happy to meet you at our cabin if you prefer.

Other things to note

Our river access is back down the hill and to the right. Follow the short paved road to the white boulders and black gate. We can't take a vehicle in the park but we walk between the boulders and can use the park to get to the river. It's a great place to sit in the river and people watch. Also a great place for the kids to play. Wifi isn't available at the cabin but guests that use AT&T have great service there.

This cabin was perfect for my family of 3! It is super clean, cozy, and has everything we needed. It's close to the water and was very peaceful. I can't say enough about how wonderful Brenda is. We live in the Houston area and Harvey hit us on Friday/Saturday- Brenda checked to see if we were still interested in coming and offered for us to stay at the cabin a day early. That is above and beyond & I am truly grateful for her. Had we left on Monday we probably would not have been able to make it and would have had to sit at home and watch our area flood- instead we were able to get out and celebrate my sons 1st birthday at the Frio River. Thank you Brenda- you are amazing and the cabin is wonderful!

We booked our trip last minute and Brenda was extremely accomadating! We were worried about possibly having to cancel so we were relieved when we read the cancellation policy. The cabin isn't anything fancy, but we loved the charm and history of it. It was extremely clean and you can tell that Brenda and Mike keep it that way. Clean linens and towels was a plus! If you have more than 2 people I suggest taking your own towels for the river so you have clean towels for showering. The cabin is small but cozy and stayed nice and cool even in this August heat!! We loved having the fridge, stove and grill. We were able to eat almost all our meals at the cabin which saved us some money for our trip. The BEST part is the proximity to the river and the access to a private area. We had a lot of tubers going by that told us we had a great spot. The kids played in the water for hours and we were able to sit and enjoy the water. Shallow areas were great for the kids. We are really looking forward to staying here again!!

We loved our stay. The cabin was just as described, very rustic from the 30's. You can not beat the location or value. You can actually see the frio from the drive up to the cabin. Walking distance to eating and rentals. Loved the people at the hippie chicks eatery. We used neals shuttle to float and were able to stop at the entrance to go back up to the cabin. Will definitely be back!
