You will appreciate it is not possible for anyone to be on site 24/7. I had other matters to attend to and that is why I have staff available - who welcomed you and checked you in – and not just, as you described, “some other people”.
Freshly laundered towels were being dried, on your arrival, as we had just had an exceptionally busy few days.
Our rooms are cleaned each day after customers check out and I will certainly bring to the staff’s attention if they had not, in this instance, properly cleaned behind the chair in your room. And I appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
The breakfast supplies are most certainly freshly re-stocked. May I suggest that if you had taken a second to look, for example, at the date on the packaging you would have seen it was all fresh and well in date. I am sure you do not expect a new, unopened family box of breakfast cereals to be provided just for you?!
At check in, guests choose the option of either having someone cook their breakfast or come down for a self-cater breakfast at a time that suits the guest. This would have been or should have been explained to you, and I will check with staff, but possibly you did not fully understand this option. Incidentally, we find that the vast majority of guests very much prefer having flexibility to have breakfast at a time of their own choosing in the morning.
It is very inaccurate [and unfair] to refer to The Town House as a “basically a hostel”. A private room, with en suite bathroom, that sleeps five in comfortable double beds is not “a hostel”. Our pricing, however, is as good value, if not better, than any hostel with such comfort and private facilities!
Again, when guests check out they can simply leave the bedroom key in the door or drop it through the letter box. We offer a comfortable, good vale B&B with the option for self-cater. It’s this very flexibility and freedom that we find most often find is very much preferred by the majority of our guests, though in your case, apparently not appreciated.
