Only 30 minutes from Stockholm city center and 60 meter to the sea, this newly renovated bungalow on a small car free island is the perfect getaway in the archipelago. Take a dip sunny days or read in front of the fireplace on cloudy or snowy days!

The space

A bungalow with 30 m2 indoor, an outside area under roof, and a garden with a table for summer dinners. The house is recently refurbished in a light scandinavian style.

Best for 1-2 persons. If you have a small kid it will also work.

Guest access

December month the ferry still runs traffic to the island and hopefully all is snowcovered. Jan-march we have ice if we are lucky. If your keen for an icewalking experience please contact us and we'll open up for booking. From april the 6th, spring is coming, the ferry opens up for traffic and you can book as normal again.

Summer: You are welcome to relax, read, swim or fish.

There are two old but functional kayaks with splash covers and safety-vests that you are welcome to borrow. There are also two canoes where you can paddle together.

Interaction with guests

If we are around we are happy to meet you and give you ideas where to go and what to do.

Other things to note

Our restaurant Storholmen Sjökrog offers local basic and good cuisine and drinks. Off season sept-may open most fridays - sundays, high season all weak except mondays. That´s where you´ll meat the locals and get to know the secrets of the island.

Note that we live on an island and you can´t get here by car. The car can be either parked at Ropsten or at the Mor Annas Brygga or somewhere else. If you park at Mor Annas Brygga you can park for free 48 hours and than just move your car a meter or two for another 48h session. .

We don´t have a store on the island. If you like to stock up before arriving we recomend COOP at central station in Stockholm for basic shopping and Fältöversten by the subway stop Karlaplan for some higher quality shopping. If you arrive by car or prefer to take a cab there are some nice shops at Lidingö Centrum.

Everything has a magic atmosphere: the small cottage -perfectly equipped-, the island, the nature, the landscapes and of course Christian's family! Five stars in all aspects!

This is a special place - our stay in storholmen was outstanding. We took the ferry out to the island which was about a 30minute ride from ropsten. Chris welcomed us onto the island which is literally in his front yard. He then invited us to hang out at the local restaurant for a birthday party which turned out to be an absolute blast! The island is dreamy, no roads, no cars, excellent people, beautiful scandavian design - a stellar lifestyle. We will forsure be back.

We had a very nice stay at Christian's place. The house is as presented on the picture. It is a -cosy&quiet- remote spot to relax while being a good place from where to visit Stockholm. And if you are a cat lover you may also enjoy the sweet company of the cat's family!

Storholmen is a lovely island only 30 minutes from Stockholm by boat. We enjoyed the big city during the day and relaxed at the evening on the picturesque and relaxing island. Johanna and Chris made a very good and friendly impression. They welcomed us at the boat-station and led us to the apartment which is literally 40 metres from Storholmen Norra.

This really is such a lovely place and Christian is a great host. The pictures are so accurate that when we came in on the ferry, I actually recognised it before I saw the sign! If anything I found it better than the photos, they don't show the changing of the light and colours - autumn is lovely time to go. We sat out with blankets and just watched the birds and the boats in the evening until dusk and then watched the bats! The accommodation is cosy - especially with the fire on - and whilst not large, it's big enough for two. The kitchen is well equipped for a small space as well. This is a very chilled place to go. I think you can get a water taxi over, but otherwise the last ferry is in the early evening - watch the times, it was NEVER late. We didn't mind that we had to come back at all, but worth keeping in mind if you want to be out in the city until late. We loved the peace and quiet and there is a restaurant on the island that's open at the weekends if you don't want to cook. But no shops! So do that in the central station before you leave! There is no traffic on the island, so it's nice to just walk about and admire the scenery. If it was warmer (and I wasn't on crutches!) I would have loved to have gone kayaking - next time maybe. Christian was a great host - meeting us from the ferry and helping us settle in. He was then when we needed to ask questions, but otherwise left us to enjoy the place. We left very relaxed and happy and would love to come again - may be in summer! A note on travelling: I was a bit worried, but it all worked out fine. From the centre of Stockholm, it's the 13 T-Bana to Ropsten that takes about 10 minutes. Leave the station by the main exit, go over the zebra crossing and you'll see a sign to your right to the ferry, go down some steps to the jetty there you are. You can buy tickets on board. It's a beautiful journey and well worth it.

An absolutely perfect place to spend a few days relaxing. Christian is an amazing host - very responsive and friendly. My wife and I spent three nights here and enjoyed making dinners at home and reading on the front porch. It's also a quick 25 minute ferry ride into the city. You can go right from the ferry to the subway, which puts you into the city center in just a few minutes. We definitely hope to be back!
