I am a recently retired university development officer. My husband Dave and I felt this was a great opportunity to share our interest in travel and meeting new people by opening our home to guests traveling through Hays, Kansas. I love being outside and enjoy gardening in the growing months, travel and reading any time of the year. Dave is active in real estate development and construction management and is an accomplished and avid photographer. We enjoy travel in and outside the US and find the most rewarding experiences are those that take us off the beaten path to meet the locals, seeking out a B&B or (Hidden by Airbnb) whenever possible. Our home is a beautiful ranch that sits on 3.5 acres in the middle of town. It is bordered by a pond and open green areas. This area is a popular with walkers and joggers morning and evening. We enjoy a brisk walk with our dog Suki most mornings. The B&B rooms are located on the lower level adjacent to a family room that opens onto the patio and pool area. The pool is open May through September and is available for your enjoyment and at your own risk. Parking is also on the lower level with entrance through the patio. We serve breakfast, full or continental depending on the preferences of our guests, from 7-9am served upstairs at the kitchen table or on the veranda. If we are home and available we host happy hour between 5 and 7pm in the family room or on the patio. Outdoor eating is always a last minute call due to the changing Kansas weather. Hays is a community of 25,000. We are home to Fort Hays State University, Hays Medical Center, and are a regional shopping and cultural center for northwest Kansas. The community supports a calendar of activities: FHSU Division II athletics, the Encore Series at the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center and the 105 year old Hays Symphony, The Hays Arts Council’s exhibits and Gallery Walks, FHSU and Hays Community Theatre, and the Sternberg Natural History, Ellis County Historical and Fort Hays Museums. We look forward to meeting the business and leisure travelers who come our way and sharing our life in Hays, Kansas.
