A cosy and bright one bedroom flat in a small seaside village on Isle Of Bute. Our place is a Scottish island rural getaway (but just an over an hours travel time from Glasgow) which is right on the beach with woodburning stove, good views, great walks, and near to local points of interest such as Mount Stuart House.

The space

Our little one bed place in secluded Kilchattan Bay on the Isle of Bute is clean, quiet and bright.

There's a wood burning stove in the living room from which there's views over the well-kept front garden (which is shared with the other flats in the block), a church and the sea. We have a large TV and DVD player, and feel free to read the books on the shelf. No broadband on this part of the island but wireless internet (3G and Vodafone works well if you have a dongle).

Kitchen includes everything you need for cooking (inc microwave/hob/oven) and a washing machine. Please note the large fridge in the picture has been replaced with an ordinary domestic fridge!

The one bedroom is small, with a double bed and storage for clothes, and partial sea views.
There's a shower room, and outside there's a shed with log storage.

The flat is right next to the local post office/shop, and there's a pub half a mile walk up the road which serves good food. There are regular bus services to Rothesay (10 miles) and the rest of the island.

But the best thing about Kilchattan Bay and the reason to come here is the peace and quiet and the beautiful scenery. Easy access to beautiful beaches, walks along the coastline, cycles round and off the island.

HOW TO GET HERE:
CalMac Ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay (19 sailings daily).
Regular buses from Rothesay to Kilchattan Bay (it's a 10 mile distance). There is also a taxi stand at the ferry port in Rothesay, or you can hire bikes from next to the taxi stand (opening hours for bike hire is 9 till 5 though).

We have stayed at Isla’s a few times now and would happily do so again. Lovely wee flat and perfect location. Highly recommended.

Isla place is a lovely cosy flat with lots of homely features. We stayed for just over a week with our 2 children who happily slept on the pull out sofa bed. Lovely side sea view from the bedroom window! The seafront is right close to the little flat and just around the corner is a lovely sandy beach. The hotel 1 mile up the road does really nice food and is worth the walk! There are plenty of beautiful walks close by. Mount Stuart is worth a visit and it's lovely down by the private beach there. We had a lovely time at Isla's place and will happily visit again.

The communication between us and the host was excellent throughout. The flat was exactly as in the pictures, we loved it's quirky little touches and felt right at home. The flat had everything we needed and was clean. We loved being out in the woods or down at the beach everyday. We couldn't have asked for more! Would recommend and we hope to return.

We had a great time at Isla's flat. It is a great location, superb value and had everything that we needed. We were there for three nights as a family of four (kids aged 4 & 7) and managed fine with the main bed and small double pull-out. Kids thoroughly enjoyed fishing for crabs off the pier and we had a lovely walk to the lighthouse along the shore path. Felt like a million miles away from home. Thanks Isla.

Such a cute, well thought out little flat. Isla has great taste and you can see a lot of love has gone into making it so nice. We stayed for a week and were very cosy there- the bed was lovely and the kitchen well stocked. We thought the woodburner was gorgeous and very easy to use! Bute is a special little island and Kilchattan is definitely the prettiest spot. Make sure you pay a visit to the Titanic cafe in the post office downstairs- they do a good strong cafetiere. Also highly recommend the Bute brewery, open at the weekend and Mount Stuart. The islanders are incredibly friendly and love to share everything it has to offer, so don't be afraid to ask for recommendations!

Isla's home is a great little quiet place to get away from it all. It's positioned down a lane. You'll get a view of the bay from the bedroom windows and living room window. There is a small shop open right next door with very friendly service. It's lovely for a cooked breakfast which you can eat at a table at the window overlooking the bay. The flat itself is very clean and quaint with lots of personal touches which makes you feel at home. There's plenty of electric heaters to use if you feel chilly as well as the fire in the living room. The local pub/restaurant is about a 10-15 min walk away which was great. Golf was 5 mins away in the car to the local 9 hole golf course. If you're looking for peace and quiet this is for you. The beach is lovely and well kept. I'll probably visit again hopefully during better weather.

Delightful, quirky, little flat, perfect for a short break. Bright and airy when the sun shines. Warm and cosy in the evenings. Everything you could need is provided and communications with the owner (or her Mum in this case !) was excellent. Ideal location to start the West Island Bay walk and, if you're a golfer, the courses at Rosethay and Bute are ridiculously good value and welcoming, with stunning views. Rosethay is a picturesque 15 minute drive away for your nearest supermarket, but the Post Office next door has the basics, as well as a good, simple, cafe. All in all, Isla's flat is highly recommended for a good value break. Many thanks x
