Lovely cottage in an amazing location. Brilliant walks in the local area and lots of maps available to plan your routes. Cottage was clean and tidy and the wood burning stove was a great feature. Definitely worth a trip

Location is amazing, view is amazing. You can get cleaned-up, rest, and be warm, and prepare meals, but don't expect much else. There were a few glaring issues when we stayed, and I wouldn't stay here again until these were resolved. The floor in some places needs work, some of the furniture needs to be repaired or replaced, and the carpet needs to be replaced. There also needs to be a shower curtain, as you cannot use the shower without spraying water all over the bathroom.

Thanks for the feedback Austin. Furniture issues you raised will be sorted this month. We're used to the cracks in the floorboards but appreciate it was not what you expected and will get these fixed, though not eliminated, (the cottage is 200 years old). It's our decision not to have shower curtain over the bath, as it makes the bathroom look cluttered. Not sure if we agree regarding the carpet but will check when we are up later this week and replace if needed. rob

We enjoyed our week and had a fabulous time, relaxing in cottage and strolling around the local countryside. The views from the cottage are spectacular come rain or shine.

The views are totally breathtaking and the cottage is a proper rural retreat! We had some real Cumbrian weather (lots of rain) but everyday the sun came out in the afternoon casting an unbelievably beautiful light on the hills. We had a two year old with us and she loved exploring the house and rolling in the enclosed front garden - not to mention all the sheep visitors we had peering in through the window! Perfect for an escape from the modern world. Rob's communication was also excellent and he was incredibly responsive and easy to deal with.

This was a perfect bolthole for the weekend. We were looking for a scenic, quiet escape from the city and Rob's place was perfect. The cottage itself was fairly basic in terms of furniture etc., but it had a very nice, comfortable rustic touch, especially upstairs where it seemed a bit like time had stood still (which we really enjoyed). The cottage was well kitted out with the open fire and logs to use and maps of the local area to plan walks. Rob also suggested that we visit Ashgill Waterfall, which was a fantastic spot not too far from the cottage and really rounded off a relaxing break.

Quirky, characterful old-fashioned cottage. i.e. roof beams, squeaky floors, huge beds. CH and hot water work v well. Great location for walks. Don't drive into the centre of Garrigill to get to the property - vehicular access is off the B6277. You park slightly up the hill and walk down to the property. No wifi, TV or microwave - but we didn't miss them at all.

Thanks for your comments. Glad you enjoyed the cottage as much as we do.
