Dreaming of a digital detox? Looking for a little get up in your giddy up? Our spacious, handcrafted tower studio offers a unique glimpse into the hippie lifestyle—but with all the modern creature comforts along with easy access to equestrian adventures. Perched atop Greenwood Ridge this tranquil refuge offers stunning forest views & blissful peace. We are also near an ancient redwood forest, cozy coastal towns & world-class wineries of Anderson Valley. So come enjoy this bit of heaven on earth.
The Dreaming Tower (completely private) is on the 3rd and 4th floor of the main house (where we live) and is accessible by a private outdoor grapevine lined staircase. Once you breathe in the fresh air and the incredible at the top the stairs – you’ll take a right into your room. The art-filled main room (3rd floor) is an open studio design with lots of windows, a queen sized bed, dining table and a kitchenette. The kitchen area includes a mini-fridge, 2 burner gas stove, sink, microwave, small blender, toaster, toaster oven, coffee grinder and marker, utensils, cookware and dinnerware. Also provided is a bottle of my favorite red wine from a local winery, coffee/ tea and essential condiments, including sugar, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper.
The private full bathroom is accessible by a very short walk OUTSIDE on your covered deck and is equipped with a standing shower (see photos). If you want to get even higher, climb the inside stairs to the 4th floor loft, where you’ll discover an enchanted space with more awe inspiring views and the “Turret Art Gallery & Mini Museum” with changing exhibits for your pleasure.
Warning: Cuteness alert - we just added a new member to our family - our baby was born this June and will be contributing to the country sounds... Needless to say we do our best to minimize the crying, especially at night.
Since we share the property with Ross Ranch horseback rides can easily be arranged in advance – for either the surrounding redwood forest area or on Manchester beach, a 40 minute drive away. We are also conveniently located between the charming, and often overlooked, coastal town of Elk (our nearest town/30 min drive) and the Anderson Valley tasting rooms (30 min drive). Make a trip to Elk for a great breakfast at Queenie’s Roadhouse café, a nice walk on Greenwood Beach and then either head along the coast south to tour the Point Arena Lighthouse (30 min drive) or north to the historic town of Mendocino (30 min drive). Or head to the quaint Anderson Valley for a stroll beneath the giant old-growth redwood trees at Hendy Woods State Park (20 min drive) and an afternoon of wine tasting and bahl gorms (“good food” in Boontling, the almost extinct local language).
*Note: We are located in a very rural area surrounded by forestland and the nearest town is Elk (about 30 min drive away). Getting here and around requires driving on windy rural roads and even thought we are only 130 miles north of San Francisco - it will take you at least 3 hours to get here, so plan accordingly. Also, getting to our house involves driving less than 1/2 a mile on a well-maintained gravel road - my Mini Cooper makes it just fine - that being said "The Dreaming Tower" may be more suited to the hearty adventurous traveler looking to "get away from it all" and rediscover peace, quiet and natural beauty :)

We are a small working farm; therefore we have to be strict about our no pet policy. It is not that we dislike animals, on the contrary we are already flooded with them – we have resident pets (cats and dogs) and livestock (chickens and horses) that we need to consider. We do apologize for the inconvenience!
In addition to your private space, you are welcome to relax on our large deck and enjoy the sunshine. You are also free to walk around the property and visit our gardens and walk the gravel driveway. But my sister's house area is private (we will point that out).
Interaction with guests
We are available to help make your stay a pleasant one and make recommendations on activities, food, hikes, etc. We are open friendly and up for interacting as much or as little as you like.
Other things to note
We do allow smoking outside but not in the room.
We do have wireless internet but we have a very limited plan (since satellite is the only option here) and are charged heavily for going over - so we ask that guests please don't live stream movies and download large files. Basic use - email, social media, etc. is fine. Thank you in advance.
We are both locals who moved away and moved back – Anica grew up here and went to school in Mendocino and Larry grew up in the Anderson Valley. And we just added a new member to the family - our baby was born this June. We love to travel the world, when we aren’t tending our beloved land. We can answer most of your local natural and cultural history questions. Anica is an avid naturalist and has worked at many of the local State Parks and loves to suggest places and hikes. Hosting is our passion and you will feel at home here, so come stay with us!
