Peace and tranquility abound here. Nestled amongst an old famine workhouse and centuries old mills this area is rich in folklore and history. A great location to explore West Cork & the Beara peninsula from and only a 5 minute drive into Bantry town. We've a cosy sitting room with wood burning stove & library to unwind in after a long day's hiking or if you really want to pamper yourself treat yourself to a full body massage. We pride ourselves on our hearty breakfast, you won't be disappointed!

The space

Donemark Falls is a detached house, in a secluded setting. From the grounds you can take in views of a waterfall, salmon pools and the ruins of an old mill. During the summer months this is a busy spot for salmon leaping up the falls.
A barbecue is available for use should you catch yourself a fish and there is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.
Steeped in history, legend has it that this was the landing place for the very first inhabitants of Ireland. It was also home to a tannery, brewery, mill and a work house during the Irish Famine.
We have other rooms available so even if this is booked message me and we'll see what can be done.

Guest access

You will have access to our lounge area which has a wood stove, coffee machine, lots of teas, boardgames, a small library (book exchange) and a magic pool table.

Interaction with guests

You may interact as much or as little as you wish. I live here myself so will be on hand most of the time for advice or suggestions on local attractions. We love hiking and exploring so will have lots of ideas for if you like the outdoors. One of my favourite aspects of being an Airbnb host is getting to help plan my guest's day over breakfast although I get a little envious from time to time too.

Other things to note

Ideal location for golf (Bantry golf course it a stones throw away) horse riding, angling (you must own a valid salmon license to fish here, local fees also apply), boat and kayak trips to Whiddy Island, hill walking and traditional music.
There's some fantastic restaurants to be found in Bantry. Donemark West is a 5 minute walk from here, it's tiny and gets booked up fast so pre-booking is recommended. The Fish Kitchen in Bantry is another gem particularly if you're a lover of fish.

Loved this gem near Bantry, fell asleep listening to the sound of the waterfall in the distance. Both Eli and Claire were extremely generous with their time giving us a tour around their unique spot. Breakfast was delicious from the chia seed pudding to the poached eggs with pancakes and a tomato twist to the endless coffee and great conversations. Claire makes her own artisan sea weed pesto which is for sale locally and worth the purchase ( also had that with the delish brekkie)Great place to hike also go go go!! Doreen

If you want to have a quite and enjoyable place. This place will be your best choice. It is surrounded by the woods . Two waterfalls just outside the house. If you don't have car just like me. Just 15~20 mins walk from the Bantry town.Worth to explore it. And you can watch the sunset on your way back! Claire is a great host and hospitality. When I arrived,She took me a short trip around the area. It is so natural and historical. And the room is clean. She gave a lot advice and recommendations for explore the area. Unfortunately I don't have time to do it. Will be back in the future and stay longer. Oh her home made breakfast is delicious too.

My friend Abdul and I spent one night over there. We met Claire and her friends also Eiel, she welcome us with open arms and she told us about the place with showing old worker house that is located near to her B&B. After this short tour, we had very enjoyable conversations. I would say that Claire is very nice and helpful person. Regarding her property , it is the best B&B I have rented in Cork. We never forget this amazing hostility & experience. Thank you Claire.

Claire and Eli's welcome was so very warm, we felt at home immediately. They have created a beautiful, stylish home, with an eye for the detail in everything they do. We travelled to Bantry for a social occasion, but staying at Claire and Eli's home became the the highlight of the trip. Indeed eating fish and chips by the waterfall has been our most memorable Irish experience. Classy cheeseboard in the evening sunshine and a hot whiskey nightcap... way beyond what one might expect. Superb poached egg, waffles breakfast.

Born in Bantry, I grew up a few miles from Donemark on a small farm. I've spent my life here for the most part except for a few adventures every chance I've had.
