An unexpectedly lovely cottage, in a tranquil location and very welcoming hosts. We cannot recommend it too highly. We would love to stay there again.

Everything that you could possibly need is provided. Vilma's version of "a bit of fruit" was a gigantic bowl of several different fruits that we just could not manage to eat. kitchen is really good.

It's difficult to know where to start...we loved everything about this holiday. Golant is a picturesque village with a great pub, the Fisherman's Arms. What we really enjoyed was the interaction with the hosts and their friends. The cottage itself is quaint and cosy. The bedding was super quality, very clean and the stunning four poster bed was sumptuously decorated in cotton broiderie Anglaise. Vilma and Robert are really kind people who genuinely care whether their guests have everything they need and I can honestly say that we've never stayed anywhere with so many personal touches. A real getaway and one to which we hope to return. Our favourite AirBnB!! Thank you!

All we can say is if you want a beautiful cottage with everything in it then this is the place to be. The area is great and just so quiet it was what we were looking for. Thank you to our hosts, we could not wish for better.

Beautiful little cottage in prime location for Eden project, exploring Fowey, Looe etc as well as for relaxing in the secluded village of Golant. Gorgeous walks. Excellent reception, brilliant communication. No faults at all!

We spent 5 nights in Golant at the beginning of our holiday. Check in on arrival was easy and a sufficient parking space was available. Vilma and Robert had kindly left lots of information about their home as well as local attractions to visit. They had provided milk, butter, eggs, a large fruit basket and cream teas which was much appreciated. The sleeping and bathroom facilities at the cottage were good with plenty of space, towels and toiletries available. Unfortunately on our first morning we discovered a leak through the skylight in the dining room. We contacted Robert who placed some buckets down while we were out that day. Hopefully, this will be repaired in the near future for the benefit of future guests. In addition, we believe that slightly more care could be given to cleaning the property between visits as we discovered quite a few cobwebs and dead insects which should have easily been cleaned away before we arrived. Golant itself was peaceful and quiet. The pub is within a minutes walk from the cottage and was a great place to go in the evenings for a drink, bite to eat or to listen to local musicians and singers. However, future guests should be aware that the road into Golant is a very narrow and steep country road and every precaution should be taken when driving along it. Furthermore, 4G and phone signal within the village is practically non-existent with WiFi only available within the pub. Unfortunately we were unable to meet Vilma and Robert in person, however we did meet Trees who called to check in on us.

If you're looking for a cottage with personality and traditional charm, then look no further than Vilma and Robert's Altarnun Cottage. We stayed at the end of August, but we can picture the cosy living room with its gorgeous fireplace would also make for a wonderful Autumnal/Winter break away too. The cottage has no WiFi and that's not a bad thing - even my 18yr daughter got used to it after 24hrs. The village of Golant is a hidden gem and perfect for a peaceful getaway with its own pub and kayak hire company just steps away. Highly recommended.
