Indian inspired yurt with annexe set between the yachting town of Cowes and Newport, the capital. Buses every 10 minutes from stops that are 3 minutes away. Half a mile to the beautiful Parkhurst forest, a haven for walkers. The County Showground that hosts various events and the Military Museum are close by as is the cycle track which runs parallel to the river. There is bike hire near the Red Jet. Stunning views and sunrises viewed from the yurt garden. Ideal for couples and solo adventurers.

The space

Cosy yet spacious insulated yurt with surround sound for mp3/ smartphone/tablet. There are tea/coffee making facilities, toaster and fridge. You are welcome to use our microwave in the lobby of the main house. The annexe opposite the yurt is a great place to sit and have breakfast or just to chill out. We have various visitors to the garden such as butterflies, blackbirds, wrens and if its a warm day you may spy a pair of buzzards circling above. A breakfast basket is served to your door each morning and homemade cake will welcome you on arrival.

Guest access

The yurt and annexe are solely for our guests. Our ducks (and dog!) are free range but are very friendly and share the garden with you. The toilet is situated through the garden in the lobby and has a basin with hot/cold running water. You are very welcome to use the shower room in the main house (just ask). Parking is off road in our driveway.

Interaction with guests

I'm usually around if you need anything or want to know about the surrounding area or the island in general

Other things to note

Although there is electric in the yurt water needs to be collected from the outside tap at the top of the garden. 2 large, filled containers will be left for your arrival and you may not need to refill them depending on length of stay. The garden is lit by fairy lights and sensor lights but please use a torch at night if going up to the lobby as the ground is a little uneven.

Sue is lovely and gave us a great breakfast box each morning. ( doesn't include milk). This is definitely a camping experience although the yurt is much more spacious than any tent. Bed quite comfy. The yurt is on one of the main roads between Cowes and Newport and we found the noise from the road disturbed us at times. The weather was very wet when we stayed so the yurt felt a bit damp/musty and we didn't get to enjoy any views/sunsets as this only applies to the bottom garden.

Response from Sue:
I DO provide my guests with a pint of ORGANIC milk on arrival as well as ground coffee, a selection of teabags, sugar, all Fairtrade plus homemade cake. Had you used all the milk before breakfast you only had to ask and I would have happily brought more down to you. Your upsetting remark regarding the state of the yurt is totally unfounded and is in no way musty or damp! Camping?? Didn't you know what a yurt was? Do 'tents' usually have surround sound, an electric blanket on a double bed, sofa, heater, fridge, toaster, kettle - I could go on! As for your comment on the views, they can be seen from the yurt garden and a more panoramic scene is only a few steps through the gate. I was surprised you had said this as you had your breakfast sitting in the lower garden taking in 'the views'. I'm sorry the weather wasn't better but sadly I can't command rain or shine.

We loved the Yurt, comfortable, cosy and unique, and Sue was a fantastic host thinking of every little detail. We really appreciated a safe place for our bikes and the breakfast hamper set us up perfectly for our ride back to London. We will be back!

We had a lovely weekend staying in the yurt. Sue was really helpful and communicated with us really well. The yurt had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We had a lovely breakfast hamper delivered every morning which was full of yummy things and was a really nice touch. The garden is lovely and there are lots of nice spots to enjoy the gorgeous view and to chill out. The area is great and there are lots of great activities and restaurants less than 30 mins away. We would definitely recommend staying here and would love to come again soon :)

We have just returned from a wonderful bank holiday stay in the Yurt. Sue has thought of everything, from real ground coffee to surround sound, its got all the luxury additions you could ask for. The pictures are true to life and actually the Yurt now has a sofa and the other outside space is now a summer house not the gazebo as shown, so even better. The Yurt is situated in gardens backing onto wide open fields, there is a busy main road at the front and you do here cars passing but it wasn't an issue for us. It was so lovely to see Mouse the dog mooching about with his big Smiley face, and the sassy ducks. The toilet is on the side of the house which at night you need a torch to get to but Sue provide that as has also hung fairy lights to help. The breakfast was both lovely in taste and presentation, Sue has a great eye for detail and puts a lot of care in to your stay. And the homemade Peanut Butter....Delish! We really enjoyed ourselves and thank her for her hospitality. Go to the Yurt, relax, enjoy the space, but watch for the spiders (again its glamping so to be expected in the hot summer season)

Everything was as promised which meant it was comfortable, delightful, and a great place to stay. Sue's breakfasts are fantastic - beautiful displayed, thoughtful, and delicious. The yurt is really well-appointed with everything you need, and the surroundings are peaceful and relaxing. And the ducks are awesome!
