Come and stay in a cosy traditional farmhouse with many original features. If you like natural beauty, peace and tranquility then look no further. I am located 2 miles from Corofin village and the Burren National Park Information Point.

Laura, your host, plays traditional Irish music on the fiddle and has a BA in Irish Music and Dance from the University of Limerick. In 2016 she set up Burren Fiddle Holidays and can teach the fiddle to guests - from complete beginners to advanced players.

The space
Your accommodation is a beautiful double room in a traditional 1930’s-built, 3-bed farmhouse. The house has many original features – full height ceilings, fireplaces in each of the bedrooms (now decorative), wooden flooring, panelled doors and panelling around the windows. In the main room there is a refurbished 1950’s Rayburn solid-fuel range which provides great heat (there is oil central heating as well). The floor is of local Liscannor flagstone. The house was built by local builder and Kilfenora Céilí Band fiddle player Tom Ward; No wonder then that the main room has a great sound for playing music!

The farmhouse is semi-detached. Set .7 of a mile off the road, peace and quiet is never an issue. Your window looks out over part of the Corofin Wetlands Special Protection Area, a haven for birdlife – notably whooper swans in the autumn/winter.

Guest access
In addition to your room, you can access the sitting room (main room), kitchen and shared bathroom. There is also a single bedroom which is usually empty. If for example there are two of you, and you need some extra space to do some reading or writing (apart from the single desk in your own room), it's not a problem for me to set you up there with a desk and chair.

You're welcome to use the kitchen for cooking (lunches, dinners etc.) - it's pretty small but fully-functional. Please keep the kitchen tidy as you would in a hostel or shared house :)

Other things to note
Regarding check-in time I can be pretty flexible. If you need to arrive outside the listed time please let me know in advance so that I can do my best to accommodate you.

I have one cat. His name is Bunta. I put him outside every night otherwise he would wake us all up! During the day he is quite used to sleeping inside. He has his usual chair in the main room...however if you leave your bedroom door open he might go inside! If you don't like cats I will put him outside in the daytime also, but he will be always trying to get in, and he is quite smart sometimes, so we will need to watch out :).

Location

Corofin, Clare, Ireland

The landscape around Corofin is beautifully diverse. Immediately around the house are rolling green fields and neat limestone walls - these give way to the Cliffs and wild Atlantic coast, limestone of the Burren hills in the north and rolling green hills of East Clare.

If you know where to look, there is a traditional music session almost every night of the week within a half-hour radius of the house :).

The house is 25 minutes away from the Wild Atlantic Way at Lahinch. It is 1 hour 30 minutes away from the furthest point of the Clare coast at Loop Head. That's around 100 miles of Clare coastline, towns and villages to explore, on the doorstep :).

Bofey Quinn's (pub/restaurant) is the place to eat in Corofin village. You are 20 minutes away from Ennis, Clare's county town. With a population of around 25,000 there are lots of cafes, places to eat and things to do.

Travel times from the house:

Corofin (Burren National Park Information Point): 5 minutes,
Burren National Park Trailhead (Gortlecka Crossroads): 15 minutes,
Cliffs of Moher: 30 minutes,
Ennis: 20 minutes,
Shannon Airport: 40 minutes,
Galway: 1 hour,
Limerick: 1 hour,
Lahinch: 20 minutes,
Doolin (and the ferry to the Aran Islands): 30 minutes

I play traditional Irish music on the fiddle and have a BA in Irish Music and Dance from the University of Limerick. It's my main passion in life! If you are interested in music I would be more than happy to give you some information on music sessions in county Clare (or in other counties) and maybe share some music with you. Ultimately I'm aiming to teach the fiddle to guests and/or people staying in the area who would like some music tuition as part of their trip or holiday. If this sounds like something you would like please get in touch - I cater for all levels of experience from complete beginner to advanced and also have a spare fiddle or two if you should need! For more information have a look at my website, Burren Fiddle Holidays. (Website hidden by Airbnb)

During your stay
I offer a continental breakfast i.e. toast from homemade bread, jam, spreads, granola, cereal, fruit, tea, coffee from a French press. I will lay it out for you on the first morning and make sure you know where everything is! I use a bread machine so the bread is always as fresh as possible.

If you are looking for things to do in the area I can give you some recommendations and local knowledge. I love being outside and I'm happy to suggest walks in the Burren and monuments of interest. Equally I am happy to respect your privacy if this is preferred.

There is internet here if you need to look up opening times/bus times etc. It works in the main room and the single room, though currently not in the double bedroom.
