Historic quarter of city centre. Where the merchant princes of Cork became wealthy and made Cork the second city of the Republic of Ireland. Here in Shandon, was established the Butter Exchange where butter brought in from west county Cork and Kerry was graded and sold to the British navy and around the work. It became a massive industry. The Butter Museum, just down the street is a most visit to understand the social and economic history of Cork and Ireland.

I have done a lot of travelling in the past, including a cycle tour from Belfast to Venice. A life member of An Oige, the Irish Young Hostelling organisation. I love the Irish coast landscape, especially Sheep's Head in West Cork. Photography is one of my passions. Love welcoming guests, giving them information to enhance their visit and sometimes bringing on tour around Cork city and county.
