Private room with large bed, semi-private bathroom and gourmet breakfast in the dining room downstairs. "It's wonderful and rare to find a house that strikes a fine balance between convenient location, calm, comfort, and warmth. I had three excellent nights of rest and a breakfast custom suited to my morning alarm, which is really a treat and sets the mood for the day. Communicating was equally easy and the house itself is just gorgeous. All the stars." (My guest Mari B.)

We loved the location, the room and the wonderful breakfast Tate provides. Would 100 percent stay with her again.

Tate is an excellent host, she made me feel very welcome and went out of her way to make sure I had a great stay. The breakfasts she cooks are outstanding, better than in a 5-star hotel! The house is beautiful with lots of history and character: it has wood panelling and a lot of artworks, feels like staying in a museum. The location is very convenient too: it is a nice area within quick access to highways and within a fairly short pleasant drive to Midtown and Downtown. If again in Detroit, definitely would stay at Tate’s place!

Tate's home is full of history and once you get to chat with her, you'll quickly get an impression of which efforts had to be invested to save this house from being demolished. It would have been a pity, if that had happened, since you then wouldn't have the opportunity to live in a place, where the spirit from a time long before the mid-1950s breathes (again). The same passion, which she put into the restoration of the house applies to her by making every effort, so that you feel comfortable - this includes the famous breakfast. The location is not far away from the buses, so you can reach the Qline / Downtown easily. Other than that it cannot hurt to wander around the side roads, so that one can see that there still is a lot to be done to get life back into the city, which has seen enough downfall in the last decades. I enjoyed every minute and will surely return.

Tate is a wonderful host that is sweet and generous and her house she has gently and lovingly refurbished is a beautiful one. She recommended for us to go and see The Heidelberg Project and The Detroit Institute of Arts two very different museums but both enormously enjoyable!

My boyfriend and I were in Detroit visiting friends and after looking at the cost of a hotel room, we opted to check out Airbnb. Tate's home is very lovely. It's an older very large home that she rents out many of the rooms - maybe 5 or something. We stayed in one of the bedrooms that has a shared bathroom. Everything was fine. Breakfast was great. She even was up early on the morning we left to make us coffee and breakfast before a 6:30am flight. Location is not near the downtown area but not far away. There are ubers which is great. However, it did get noisy at night when we were there. People were talking loudly around midnight when we were trying to fall asleep. All and all it was a good place to stay for the weekend.

Response from Tate:
Dear Abby, I have family and guests. Occasionally, on the weekends, the house is filled with people. Generally, it is an extremely quiet, serene place. You and Marcello were sick at the time of your stay and apparently were very sensitive to sounds; other than that, I think you are referring to a couple of moments of laughter when a movie was watched. I also think it is natural to appreciate "free gifts" like wifi access that I allowed you for. Being ungrateful does not take us far in life : )

I love my family, ballet, art, good cinema, books, good food and living creatures of all kind. I like to have a meaningful conversation or just listen to your stories. My life's motto: "Give more than you can, take less than you need". History is very important to me - architecture, music, art, theatre, people - I see and appreciate history everywhere. When I travel, I travel light. I like to be a hostess for my friends or events.
