30 mins drive Gatwick and 15 min drive Brighton. On the edge of the South Downs National Park. Very convenient for the airport, for enjoying the vibrancy of Brighton or for access to the countryside. A bright home with a large private garden and great walks on the doorstep. Good for gatherings. The house is a cosy semi-detached farm workers cottage, set in a very quiet location with wonderful uninterrupted views over open countryside. It's full of rare books which you can browse and buy.

The space

This Sussex cottage is different! Every room, including the bedrooms, are home to shelves of fine books. It's a fascinating place surrounded by a big garden which leads onto pasture, woodland and a stream. Centrally heated with an open log burning fire it's a very charming and wonderful escape. Please note that the bathroom is located downstairs.

Guest access

Unless we agree something different, with the exception of a few private cupboards, you may have the run of the house.

Interaction with guests

I do sell the books that are in the cottage. Sometimes I need to call in to get a book that has been ordered online. But I wouldn't turn up unannounced!

If you like tranquility, with lovely views, and a log fire, a choice of hundreds of books to look at & walks right on your doorstep this is the place for you. We stayed for two nights but wished we could have stayed longer. It is so homely, spacious but cosy. Armand will provide logs at £6 a basket. Highly recommend

We had an absolutely fantastic weekend! The photos on the site don't do it justice. The cottage is warm and welcoming, it was easy to find and checking in and out was simple. The books adorning the cottage give it a cosy feeling. We are keen to return in the summer as felt it was be equally beautiful then also. It's easy to get into Brighton from here but we also felt we were far away from it all, surrounded by the beautiful countryside. Thank you for a perfect weekend!

This cottage is so lovely. Perfect for going on walks in the countryside. Doing the washing up in the morning watching the birds on the feeder was so nice! This is cute, quiet little cottage great for a break from the city.

Armand was incredibly welcoming and his cottage just as described. Cosy and warm, even when cold outside. We found it had everything we needed for our two night stay and brousing at all the books, fantasising about having time to read them a great daydream!

The house is very cosy, full of interesting books for those who like to read. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, some stunning views from the windows. We explored the local area and went on beautiful autumn walks. The host was very friendly and welcoming and very helpful in making sure our stay was comfortable. We had a great time.
