My place is close to Lake Front, parks. You’ll love my place because of The lake, the woods, nature, the outdoors space. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids age 7 and up), and furry friends (pets).

The space

This two story cottage is on Long Pond on Mount Desert Island. This is the perfect getaway, off the beaten path and nestled on the peninsula of an 8 mile long lake. There is one neighbor close by but you feel otherwise very secluded and surrounded by nature.

Guest access

The lake is all yours! With your own private small dock the location is perfect for swimming, excellent for fishing, A rowboat is available at your little private dock!

Interaction with guests

Our policy is to stay out of sight but always available via messaging. We aim to allow you to enjoy your retreat uninterrupted. We will reach out to supply recommendations and ask that you let us know when you check in and check out. We are always available through airbnb messaging. We keep excellent communication with our guests to be sure that we are there for anything you may need.

Other things to note

There is neighboring house that is also available for rent through a different agency so you may have others on the site, sharing a driveway. That said the space is often unrented so you may have the entire lot to yourself!!

The location of this place is beautiful! We took a coastal road trip of Maine and also brought our kayaks. It was so nice to kayak just off the dock! The is very much a cabin in the woods and is really perfect if you want to relax and unplug. We still needed to work while on vacation and the internet was not workable and we couldn’t get a hold of the host to reset the modem. We luckily found a nice cafe in Bar Harbour to work from. We also want to mention that the bed was terribly uncomfortable. It is a spring mattress and if you don’t have one at home it can cause a bit of a restless sleep. Great recommendations from the host about places to go. Didn’t need to read up on the area at all! We would stay again if we had slept well!

A beautifully private spot in a gorgeous setting. Our dog absolutely loved running around the forest grounds and by the lake. Vera gave excellent restaurant and site-seeing recommendations. The WiFi periodically loses internet connectivity.

A nice house in a great location. A very quiet, wooded area. The pond is steps away, and rowing on it in the rowboat was fun. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are minutes away, so there is plenty to do (bicycling, hiking, kayaking, restaurants). During our stay the wi-fi at the house faded in and out. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. We would definitely come back to Vera's house.

Great location for exploring Acadia NP. About 15 miles from an entrance. A little farther to Bar Harbor. Convenient location to fun! Located on a great pond, for great fishing, and swimming, and boating. Great location for peaceful walks in the neighborhood. Quiet!!! There is another house right next door, but it was vacant for our stay. Charcoal grill, bottled water.

If you have never stayed near Acadia Vera's place is a great value for the money. It's located on an island/peninsula in the middle of Long Pond. This is a very unique location because it's one of the quietest spots anywhere on MDI. The house is one of 2 on this lot. Another cottage is right on the water and this one sits behind it. Each house has it's own dock and you can see the water from the deck outside of the kitchen. The downside of this is that the 2 houses share internet service and the modem is in the other house. Internet service here is sketchy (and that's true for the whole island as best we can tell). I didn't want to bother the other guests to keep resetting the modem daily so we got in the habit of going to Southwest Harbor and using the free library internet (password is on their wifi code) each morning. It was a good break to get a pastry and coffee. The house wifi was usually on in the afternoons and evenings. If you are looking at this house you see that the only bed is a full size bed which just wouldn't work for me and my husband. We saw that it was a murphy bed so took a Coleman SupportRest Elite inflatable mattress (about $80 at Wal-Mart). Once the Murphy bed was folded out of the way we had plenty of room for a surprisingly comfortable mattress. It was difficult to figure out the layout from the photos so I'll describe the place a little. The first floor has the kitchen and the sitting room with the 2 futons. These futons are the old style with spring mattresses. There's a half bath downstairs. Upstairs is the bedroom, a small bathroom with shower and the other sitting room with a futon, table, piano and TV. There would be room here to put another inflatable mattress of you needed. Bring your own folding chairs so you can sit on the dock in the mornings and evenings to watch the eagles and listen to the loons. We walked out to the top of the pond and rented kayaks that we paddled back to the dock for daily kayak trips to explore the pond. This house is on the quiet side of the lake. The shore across from the house is part of Acadia so there are no houses to look at. Like a lot of these types of Maine lake cabins the furnishings are not fancy or particularly new and it could use a bit of decluttering but you need to get this house while it's incredibly affordable. If they ever put in a queen bed and update some of the other furniture I'd expect the rate to go up at least $75/night. Before you arrive Vera will send you a ton a great information on restaurants and other things to do on MDI.

Vera's cabin was very homey and comfortable! There were spices in the kitchen, a lobster pot we made use of, and the location couldn't be more perfect. The dock and the row boat were so much fun, and the kids were able to play in the water. It was safe for the family and very quiet. The cabin itself it more spacious than it seems in the photos. When we had questions or needed anything we had quick responses...thanks for a memorable vacation!
