Beautiful Old World Stone Cottage on the grounds of historic Killaghtee House overlooking St. Johns Point with its lighthouse, ancient ruins and sandy beaches. Ideally situated on Wild Atlantic Way between Donegal Town and Killybegs Fishing Harbour, beside Dunkineely village.

It was once a cow shed and hay loft and now oozes with both luxury and comfort. You will love the open plan space, patio and lovely gardens that go with it. Check out our listing "The Artist's Cottage" too.

The space
This beautiful stone cottage is located on the grounds of historic Killaghtee House overlooking St. Johns Point, which was built in 1856. The cottage was converted from a former traditional cattle shed and hay barn. The bathroom, kitchen and living area are downstairs where the cattle used to be housed. The bedroom is upstairs is where the hay was once stored to feed the cattle during the winter. It is now a beautiful stone building with red window frames, and oozes with warmth and comfort. The conversion work has been done to a very high standard with the very best of luxury fittings.

The cottage has its own private courtyard and gardens with a patio table, chairs and comfy cushions. Its a really private area and when the weather is good you can dine alfresco, sip coffee in the sunshine, or just enjoy reading a good book. You may also spot our pony "Shelby" in the field beyond the cottage.

The brand new bathroom is fitted with an electric shower. There is plenty of hot water available and we provide luxury cotton towels, shampoo and shower gel for your comfort. There is also a toilet, wash hand basin, mirror, storage, hand towels, and a shaving point provided for you.

The kitchen is fully fitted with an electric oven, electric hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, toasted sandwich maker, tea/coffee pot, pots, pans, cutlery and all of the accessories that you would expect in a modern kitchen. Because of this many of our guests prefer to cook in rather than eat out.

The living area is open plan with a vaulted ceiling, so there is a great sense of space around you. There are two leather sofas provided, a 40" Smart TV with a premium Netflix account, DVD player and lots of dvds, a dining table with four leather dining chairs, wall art and mirrors, and plenty of storage provided in luxury walnut furniture units. The floors are solid oak, and we have a provided beautiful green shag pile rug in front of the sofas to rest your feet on. Patio doors lead to the private courtyard and gardens.

In the living area there is a Nespresso Coffee machine and capsules provided for your use. Heating is provided by three fitted radiators. There is also a fitted electric affect fire for those really cold evenings. All of the windows and the patio doors have blinds, curtains, or both.

The bedroom is upstairs and this room has many luxury fittings, which include a walnut king size bed with a comfy mattress and fine cotton sheets, a walnut wardrobe with plenty of hanging space and drawers underneath, and a bedside walnut locker and lamp. There is a heater fitted in this room for your comfort. There are spare pillows, towels and linen provided in the wardrobe. You can see the gardens to the rear and views across the courtyard and towards St. Johns Point and the sea from the front window of this room.

The cottage is thoroughly cleaned and serviced for each new guest. We have aimed to provide a hotel suite level of comfort in our cottage, while maintaining all of charm of the original cottage with its original features. This is why all of our guests really love this space.

I love the outdoors, especially horse riding, fishing and wildlife. I am also big into computers and the way they can make everyday tasks easier for everybody. I also like to travel and see different places, especially in Ireland.
During your stay
We live in historic Killaghtee House, and the cottage is located on the grounds of this house. We always meet our guests personally and explain everything to them from the onset. We are also happy to talk about the local tourist attractions and facilities in the area.

We provide an information sheet for each new guest, and guests are free to ring the door bell of the main house and we are there to help them as best we can. We strive to have everything right for each new guest.
