We enjoyed our stay here. We had a rental car, and didn't mind the 15 minute drive into Papeete. The top floor was a nice place to be. Lots of sun on the deck in the afternoon made it easy to hang our wet clothes out to dry. The washing machine was a nice feature. The host was nice to set up the couch as a bed since we had 3 people. All of the units have windows in the upstairs bathroom that have open slats for ventilation. This made it a little difficult to control the climate and the bugs, but fortunately we were not there at a buggy time. We kept the bathroom door closed when we weren't using it. Wifi worked well. The info was on the bottom of the router in the upstairs bedroom. Be sure to ask which numbers to use before the host leaves you on your own! We met the host (Jimmy's mom) in the front lobby of the Pearl resort and she showed us to our room. She then showed us our parking space and gave us the pool/beach passes and the remote control to open the door to the underground parking garage. We very much appreciated having a safe and guaranteed parking space. The parking garage is also where we were able to take our garbage as often as we wanted. The space was as pictured in the listing. The upstairs bed was comfortable enough. The pool was missing a lot of tiles, but we observed them cleaning it every day. The steps to the beach are rustic. You have to walk backwards down the sloped wooden steps and hold tightly to the railing. They are a bit slick because of the sand on them. The black beach was beautiful! It wasn't very crowded. There were a few hotel guests there, and some local kids that had biked there. We took our snorkel gear in and looked around because we wondered whether there was coral or anything dangerous that we might stumble into. It was extremely clear and not a rock or coral head in sight. Really beautiful. I think at some times of year, the surf and undertow may be stronger than when we were there. We really loved the gorgeous views, the access to the hotel amenities, and the underground parking. We never ate at the hotel, but we did go watch the evening Marquesan dance show one night. We were able to observe without paying to eat there. Overall, the property felt safe, and we had a nice stay. Jimmy's mom met us at our convenience for check out.
