Edmister House. . . Experience the past in a gracious turn of the century Berkshire "cottage", custom built for New York society second homeowners escaping the city summer.

"Mr and Mrs Willard Edmister will entertain many Brooklyn guests during the season. Their new villa, which they completed last year, has a splendid location with an outlook over the Housatonic Valley. . . They closed up their summer home and returned to the city. They'll reopen it for the holidays" Brooklyn Life, 1914/20

The space
Experience a bit of the gilded age in our unique turn of the century Berkshire cottage with large spacious rooms, 3 working fireplaces downstairs, large private yard for reading and enjoying Berkshire time. We recently purchased this 10,000 sq foot house as a multi-generational family home and are cautiously renovating it while maintaining it's original integrity. We are 3 generations of adults, enjoy music and people.

The Arden Room has a a king bed. The Emma Room has a king bed. The West Wing is a 2 room suite with a king bedroom and direct access to the first floor deck. If some of your dates are booked you can switch rooms for longer stays.

Looking forward to meeting you!
Ken, Laurie, Tom & Robin

We bought this wonderful home as a multigenerational home last September and quickly realized the house enjoys being filled with people. The sharing economy seemed logical and thus began our Airbnb adventure. Ken's been in love with the Berkshires since childhood (Dad was in BSO for 30 years) and decided to locate here as an adult. Laurie was transplanted here as a child in the 60's when her Dad Tom bought a business in the Berkshires. Tom has spent the last 9 years with his wife living on a large sailboat at Jekyll Island and traveling the intracoastal waterway. Daughter Robin was born in the Berkshires and never felt a desire to be anywhere else. Together we love books (home of Herman Melville), music (summer home of Boston Symphony Orchestra), theater (home of Barrington Stage, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Williamstown Theatre Festival), museums (home of Berkshire Museum, Clark Art, MassMoca, Norman Rockwell Museum), dance (home of Jacob's Pillow) and food . . . so many really good restaurants. And we like people and the Berkshires are filled with many interesting people.
