Peace and tranquility abound here. Nestled amongst an old famine workhouse and centuries old mills this area is rich in folklore and history. A great location to explore West Cork & the Beara peninsula from and only a 5 minute drive into Bantry town. We've a cosy sitting room with wood burning stove & library to unwind in after a long day's hiking or if you really want to pamper yourself treat yourself to a full body massage. We pride ourselves on our hearty breakfast, you won't be disappointed!

The space

Donemark Falls is a very special place where you can escape to the magic and myth of Old Ireland. From your bedroom you can take in views of a waterfall, the salmon pool and the ruins of an old mill. During the summer months you'll witness our wild salmon leaping up the waterfall to spawn.
A barbecue is available for use should you catch yourself a fish and there is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.
Steeped in history, legend & lore this little inlet has links to Noah of the arc, Fionn Mac Cumhaill and the Salmon of Knowledge.

Guest access

You will have access to our lounge area which has a wood stove, coffee machine, lots of teas, boardgames, a small library (book exchange) and a magic pool table.

Interaction with guests

You may interact as much or as little as you wish. I live here myself so will be on hand most of the time for advice or suggestions on local attractions. We love hiking and exploring so will have lots of ideas for if you like the outdoors. One of my favourite aspects of being an Airbnb host is getting to help plan my guest's day over breakfast although I get a little envious from time to time too.

Other things to note

Ideal location for golf (Bantry golf course it a stones throw away) horse riding, angling (you must own a valid salmon license to fish here, local fees also apply), boat and kayak trips to Whiddy Island, hill walking and traditional music.
There's some fantastic restaurants to be found in Bantry. Donemark West is a 5 minute walk from here, it's tiny and gets booked up fast so pre booking is recommended. The Fish Kitchen in Bantry is another gem particularly if you're a lover of fish.

This is a great place. Lovely accomodation, wonderful breakfast, amazing waterfalls on the grounds, massages available, but the best part is the hosts, who treat you like dear friends. It's a short drive to town, but there is a great restaurant across the road.

We spent 4 wonderful days at Donemark Falls Lodge and had the best of times. Claire, Eli (whom we unfortunately got to know on our last day only) and Elaine are great hosts and make you feel welcome the moment you arrive. The location and scenery are beautiful, our room was clean and cosy. The bed was the best we slept in during our whole vacation. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic. No chance to leave the table with an empty stomach. Everybody was supernice and helpful. We would definitely come again and highly recommend Claire's place.

Exceptional. Claire, Eli and Elaine are truly inspiring people. We felt like one part of a big family. The stone cottage and the surroundings are a magical place, where you immediately calm down. The breakfast is outstanding, fresh and healthy and organic ingredients, superfoods and gluten- and dairyfree options. We had the chance to join them for a swim under the waterfall early in the morning, followed by an incredible yoga class in the sitting room. For those looking for the pub experience: it's a 30 minutes walk to Bantry with great restaurants and pubs. If time allows treat yourself with a massage - Claire's skills are incredible. Last but not least: you definitely need to try their delicious and nutritious homemade seaweed products. Highly recommended. Martin & Sandra (from Austria)

This place is absolutely extraordinary, we couldn't stop being amazed. It's magic to experience the power of the waterfalls, ebb and flow of the ocean, so close surrounding you. The garden is a kind of fairytale forest with postindustrial ruins - of a mill - that remind of romantic paintings from the 19th century. This place shows the struggle of civilization with nature. Claire and Eli are creating a unique hide out here for people who long to escape from banality. Bantry is only a few miles away and was a big surprise too because of it's almost mediterranean atmosphere and great qualities for living. So it was't no surprise to us that young people, who have travelled allover the world, choose to come back here to build a future. We strongly recommend.

Our favourite Air B&B to date! Claire, Elaine and Eli were such wonderful hosts - they opened up their home and we felt genuinely looked after and welcome. The location is amazing, the most incredible spot. The waterfalls were lovely - and we were lucky enough to see the salmon running! Not to mention breakfast - a feast for kings and queens. Definitely stay here if you are passing - so much more than just a bed for a night! Amazing spot!

If you are looking for a secret haven of relaxation, look no further! This is a beautiful place, both inside and outside on the grounds. A waterfall outside your window- how awesome is that?! We watched the trout jump up the falls and the swans swim in the evening. Claire and Elaine were wonderful and thoughtful hosts, serving us a photo worthy, delicious breakfast filled with nice conversation. Their advice saved us from being late to our plans for the next day. I would stay here again in a heartbeat if I found myself in the area again. The bed was comfortable, though a bit firm, and everything was very clean and fresh feeling. Claire communicated well before our arrival so that we had no trouble finding her location. Again, breakfast was great, and coffee and tea was available whenever we wanted it. Parking was no trouble at all.

Claire and Eli's home is an absolute must visit. Unlike anywhere you will have stayed before. Claire is a fabulous host and from the moment you arrive makes you feel as if you are visiting family. Claire welcomed us, showed us our room and immediately took us on a tour of the fabulous woods, waterfall and ruins. We were lucky enough to see the salmon jumping. As if that wasn't welcome enough Claire then provided us with refreshments. Donemark Falls is set in a stunning area which is well worth a visit. Breakfast was delicious and healthy, could not of asked for more. We rarely return to the same place twice as there is so much in the world to see but we will definitely be returning to Donemark. Thank you Claire, Eli, Elaine and the visiting Dalma the Dalmation.

Claire User ProfileClaire is a superhost.

Born in Bantry, I grew up a few miles from Donemark on a small farm. I've spent my life here for the most part except for a few adventures every chance I've had.
