Matt' place is full of character. The neighbors are very friendly, including the sheep, and there are many beautiful gardens surrounding the house. The house is in a very convenient location, close to the train station and park. I highly recommend staying here. Thanks Matt!

We were met by Jayne who made us feel very welcome and explained everything we needed to know for our stay. We had no problems parking even on a very busy, hot weekend. The cottage is only a 5 minute walk from the town centre with the train station directly opposite. We found th…

A perfect location for exploring locally and further away with the train station on your doorstep. Had a lovely week in Matt's house, a well equip kitchen and big comfortable beds. Exactly what we were looking for on our visit to Hebden Bridge.

Matt's cottage is very cosy and handy for the town. Don't expect a TV as there isn't one. This suited us as we don't have one either! Good internet connection if required. The neighbours were very friendly and helpful. The only issue to report is the parking. It's a bit of a sque…

Enjoyed a great half-term week in Matt's cottage. It is small but more than adequate for four adults and a baby. Great location near the railway station and only a short walk into the centre of Hebden Bridge. We enjoyed walks along the canal and used public transport to reach int…

Great little spot. Warm, cosy and characterful. We had a lovely weekend exploring Hebden and attending a gig at the Trades Club. Everything was a few minutes walk away and our host made us feel very welcome and relaxed. Would stay again!

We stayed in Matt's peaceful cottage for just over two weeks during the Christmas period. It was a good experience and Hebden Bridge was a great place to be but there were a few issues. It has smell issues - it's a damp, musty smell, especially on the ground floor. The bathroom …

Response from Matt:
Dear Susan and friend, we're glad you enjoyed your stay in hebden. However, I think you're review could have a less critical tone, and you might have mentioned the efforts we made to address issues during your stay (some of which turned out to be non-issues). If readers look at the other revues they will see that nearly everyone has found the cottage comfortable, clean and warm (Website hidden by Airbnb) Whether the points in this review have substance or not, I'll address them here to allay any potential concerns. 1. The cottage is cosy and warm as long as the radiators are turned on. The kitchen diner can get damp if it isn't heated often enough, because it's a 19th century stone building. The radiator in that room works really well, and if you want to feel warmer and cosier there is the wood stove which can really belt out the heat. The windows need to be opened at times during the day to let fresh air through. Most visitors who observe these practices and find the room comfortable. 2. The attic radiator works perfectly well and is more than adequate for heating the room. The radiator knob is awkwardly positioned because of a bookshelf, but a little knee-bending and patience are all that is required. During the stay Susan claimed that both the bathroom and the lounge radiators also weren't working and we arranged a plumber to come and look before a friendly neighbour went over and found that the guests didn't know how to turn a knob. 3. The outside bathroom isn't a bathroom, it's just a loo, and most folks use the inside bathroom except for emergencies. 4.The bathroom is actually lovely and has a nice view which provides natural light. It is also pleasantly warm, with a full-length towel rack radiator. We'll arrange for the cottage to have a spring clean before the next guests, and check with the cleaner about cleaning materials in the kitchen (some of which may need re-stocking). However, the cleaner works hard to ensure the cottage is clean prior to every visit, including the sheets and towels. OK, I hope that Susan and her friend go onto have many nice airbnb experiences in other places, and that readers look at the other reviews for this cottage, as we work hard to ensure people have a cosy and comfortable stay, and have generally earned positive reviews. Sincerely, Matt.
