Some passing Hobbits were pestered by a Nazgûl - they got away safely though!A wood burner to keep you warm, and you can cook your diner on it as well!

About this listing

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole and that means comfort.

Description

The space

Our new Hobbit House is now complete. We road tested it last weekend and had an amazing night, we think you'll love it.
No where else can you stay with a view like this from your comfortable bed! We are only 15 minutes from Hay on Wye and the perfect place to stay during the Hay festival.
The Hobbit House has a wood-fired cooker so that you can cook your own meals and there is running water just outside.
A large sofabed folds out to a full-sized double bed with a deep comfortable mattress. All bedding etc provided.
Dinner and breakfast can be provided at extra cost - how about a nice hearty stew in a slow-cooker ready for you to arrive, with fresh bread warming in the Hobbit House's wood-fired oven?
We have a number of great walks starting from the doorstep and a rural pub over the road. (please note that the pub is generally only open at weekends)

Guest access

Guests will have exclusive use of the Hobbit House and it's garden, and shared use of the shower room in the main house.

Interaction with guests

You can keep to yourselves or interact with us as much as you like. Dinner and breakfast are available at an extra cost. Please let us know in advance.

The neighbourhood

A Hobbit House in the middle of the beautiful Brecon Beacons. I think that's pretty unique don't you?!

Getting around

There is no public transport so you'll need a car or be a serious walker/cyclist to get here. There is parking outside the front of the house - please don't park in the pub car park as they ask us and our guests not to use it.

Other things to note

Access to the Hobbit House is via a set of steps.

Cannot rate our stay highly enough!! Tin and Rosie were so welcoming and friendly - we really felt at home. Great recommendations in the visitor guide so found some lovely pubs and eateries. The Hobbit Hole is fantastic - so cosy and warm and contains everything you need. Great location tucked away on its own little hill for privacy, with unbeatable views of the valleys. Enjoyed meeting the goats and sheep on the smallholding. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend! We'll be back!

Our stay with Tin and his lovely family was such a special experience. We loved the hobbit house and the lovely touch of a delicious beef stew in the slow cooker when we arrived! Would absolutely recommend to anyone, this place is an absolute treasure! Thanks for having us x

The hobbit house is amazing, you won't be disappointed. Super cosy but enough space to not feel cramped. Great little wood burner really does the job. Surrounded by amazing views, a pleasure to wake up to. Breakfast was great too. Highly recommended.

Without doubt the most amazing Airbnb I have stayed in. Peaceful getaway with the most caring host. Make sure you opt for the breakfast as it was delicious down to the last bite. I would recommend for anyone to stay at the hobbit hole and will 100% be returning in the future!

Wonderful, unique place to stay for a break from it all! Rosie and Tin were the perfect hosts, being extremely welcoming and easy to chat too! We went for the breakfast option and we're greated with a fresh loaf of home made bread, homemade pancakes, yogurt, berries and jam perfect before a days walking. There are plenty of walks from the doorstep and a short 5 minute drive to Talgarth for longer walks. The hobbit hole is a cozy space that had plenty of room for me, my partner and dog! Views of the hills first thing in the morning were idyllic. The log burner keeps you lovely and toasty with plenty of firewood provided. We cooked sausages on top of the burner in pans provided and stored milk and water in the small fridge. The oven to the fire doesn't warm up enough to cook a meal but we were able to cook part baked baguettes in about 35 minutes! One small thing is the hobbit hole is near a busy main road so if it's total isolation you want bear this in mind. We weren't too fussed about the road and it didn't affect our trip.
