Romantic 'gypsy' style showman's wagon (c. 1920) in idyllic cottage garden with wonderful birdsong and views of a medieval church.

It was recently renovated with electricity, basic kitchen and has use of a private bathroom attached to the cottage

The wagon will go into hibernation as from November 1 2017 for the winter and will reopen mid March.

The space

This delightful 100 year old timber showman's wagon was recently renovated and sleeps two in a comfy double bed. **

The wagon is fitted with a basic kitchen (fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave) and has an outdoor barbecue, fire bowl and your own piece of the garden. A private shower room with loo and sink is attached to the main cottage, 20 metres away.

Situated in a enchanting cottage garden, the light and airy space has views to a medieval church. The small village is six miles from the sea and there are great walks all around.

Within one mile is the local shop, garage and excellent butcher. Within four miles, the charming Georgian market town of Holt.

** The Showman's wagon will go into hibernation as from 23 October 2017 and reopen mid March 2018

Guest access

You have the entire wagon, piece of garden, parking space and private shower room which is attached to the cottage - everything within the red lines on the map in the photos.

Interaction with guests

The wagon has its own piece of garden and is private for guests as is the shower room and loo. I live in the cottage itself and will be in and out. I am a keen gardener so can often be found there if needed - or i'm always available or on the phone.

Fab host, fab location (perfect for exploring Blackney, Wiveton, Morston, all the highlights of the north Norfolk coast), fab accommodation, exactly as described and really stylish. If you appreciate the countryside, you will love Julia as a host and the Showman's Wagon, situated in a beautiful garden with lots of little extra touches, especially Julia's delicious marmalade.

Journey back in time to this romantic hideaway in deepest north Norfolk. Julia's showman's wagon, set in a glorious garden makes the perfect base whether you want to explore everything the area has to offer, or simply rest there and relax in tranquility. Having to cross the garden to get to the bathroom, and wash up at a tap outside, simply adds to the old-world charm of the experience. We wished we had booked for longer and we hope to return.

Wow! What a hidden gem. We found The Showmans Waggon as a last minute base for our visit to the 40s weekend in Sherringham and it was the perfect place. More than comfortable and exceeded all expectations! The garden setting was beautiful and the homemade marmalade went down a treat for breakfast outside in the sunshine! We can't wait to book again for summer next year! Thank you Julia!

If you want to step off the world for a few days this is the perfect spot. A very different experience in a beautiful, quiet and unspoilt part of Norfolk. The only sounds you hear are birds and even the baby owl twitting in the day was a pleasure. The van was kitted out thoughtfully giving us everything we needed over our weekend stay. The bed was very comfortable and we are quite fussy. The shower and loo are only a few paces away, beautifully clean and fresh and the path is well lit at night. Fresh towels were provided for our use along with a tea towel which was perfect as we had not thought to bring one. Nearest shop is Melton Constable not too far away and conveniently located near to 2 takeaways. Julia is a marvellous host providing all the information we needed for our stay including recommendations for pubs and eateries and was more than happy to share local knowledge of the best places to swim. Pack light as there is obviously not too much storage space but ample for our weekend bags. An electric fan and heater are provided along with a torch and umbrella should you need them to visit the loo during the night. Outside Julia has provided a firebowl which you could use to bbq and thoughtfully provided seat cushions and all of the utensils you might need. It was a pleasure to stay in this unusual home. Thanks Julia.
