Killahara Castle offers you an authentic 16th Century tower house experience in Ireland. Its refurbished stone walls contain within them many tales from a bygone era - promising you an unforgettable stay.

The space
Killahara was first built in 1550 by the O'Fogartie clan. The very same stairs you will climb as you wind your way up to bed have been trodden on over the past 475 years by Chiefs, members of their clan and then by invaders under Cromwell. The history of the castle is available on our website.

Guest access
Guests can explore every part of the property to their hearts content, with the proviso that safety rules are stuck to. The castle is tall and children must not be left unattended at the top of the castle. Small children should be well minded on the ancient stone stairs as well.

Other things to note
There are often horses in the fields surrounding the castle, guests should be aware that they should not enter the fields where the horses live, but are welcome to talk to them from the other side of the fence!

Also, we price by weekend and week - we do not take one night bookings. A weekend price is now €1950 and the price for a full week is €2950. We take a refundable damages deposit of €400
